I have a 94 9000 CSE, automatic with 132,000 miles and I was driving on the highway at high speeds and it started to stutter a little. When I got off the highway, it would not down shift out of 3rd. I had to get it home by shifting to nuetral at lights and stop signs and then shifting back to drive. It was running on it's own at about 45mph without touching the gas. Any help would be appreciated.
Sounds like governor seals. This is a diy job, but not particularly expensive at an Auto Trans specialist - around £200 total ( parts, fluid, new filter, labour).
I got mine fixed last year - done about 4k since and still good. I wouldn't drive it regularly again until it is repaired though.

Yea thats what I was told here but the Tranny guy ssaid no and ending up rebuilding the whole thing for $2300. I probably got ripped off but by the time he told me everything wrong he had it all torn apart and wanted $500 to put it back together alone.

Thanks. I took it to a Saab Dealer and they are saying that it is probably a bad IAC Valve. They want $500 to replace. I think I can do it myself, anyone ever had that poblem? I am not an expert, but can find my way around. It doesn't look that hard. Any suggestions or hints?
