hi there!

i´m riding a 86´t16 now. It was my father´s car during 10years, it´s now 280.000km.. i´m from Portugal, 6ºC now. the car takes a lot of time to warm-up (like 15 -20 min just to reach the 1/4 temp gauge. My dad´s says that this is normal, it think it´s the thermostat.. what you guys think?

thanks

I had the same problem on my 1991. I did just have the thermostat changed, and the issue is lessened. However, the car still does take quite a long time to warm up compared to my Suzuki (also 2.3l engine, but all aluminum). My old '87 9000T was the same way, even with a new thermostat. I always attributed it to the cast iron engine block on the Saabs. I suspect it's also due to the location of the catalytic convertor on the older models, far downstream instead of in the downpipe.
