I know more air = more fuel but this is a forced induction engine and I am not sure if the less restrictive intake will make the engine more efficient instead. This is the small metal tube with the k&n on the end sold by genuinesaab
The amount of fuel you burn is exactly proportionate to the air you let in through the throttle. Upstream restriction, or lack thereof does not affect economy.
Very slight improvement in economy. Less restriction = less friction to draw in air. given the large volumes of air that pass through the engine, this will have an effect, however small on the the economy.
(this assumes all else is equal and the ECU makes the most of the situation)
I am just trying to decide weather to roll back to the stock air silencer since the open air is just too loud for me to be honest and takes away from the elegant character of the vehicle but I am on the fence about it so a slight increase in economy is all I would need to stay put with it.
Will definitely increase noise, in addition to any change in mileage. Big sucking sound when you put your foot down will mean your car is no longer a "sleeper". If that matters.
Theres an enormous amount of sound when trying to climb the driveway....I kinda liked it better when it gave a little wisp of sound instead...didnt feel like the car was fighting itself.
have you listened to the open air sucking sound? Its addictive and you'll find your foot against the floor just so you can hear it. Therefore your fuel economy will drop
i was going to get one bu wanted to get it a sleeper then i maed a misstake and punched my cat out and now it a lil bit of a ricer sound when i get on the gas and with the knocking nosie it not a classe car anymore
