Hello again, I didn't want to mix this post with the other one.
After having to get a jump every morning for a week and a half, I finally discovered why my battery was draining. to make a long story short, when I would park the car and turn off the engine, before walking away from the car, I would hear the fan turn on. Normally it would do that on my previous Saab, so I thought nothing of it until I discoverd that my Radiator light would come on when I would stop at a light or something. I thought that was weird so I decided to come back outside after 40 mins to see what was going on. When I got there, the fan was still on, so I opened the hood and then it went off. I turned the key to "On" and the battery was dead. I had just bought the battery the morning before and replaced the altenator. So, I figured that the engine or radiator was running hot and causing the fan to "overwork" to get the temp back to normal and thus causing excessive strain on the battery when the car was off. So, I opened the coolant tank and topped it off and disconnected the fan by pulling two plugs apart. Since it has been below zero outside, my reasoning was that I wouldn't need the fan as much because when I'm on the hightway, the sub-zero temp would keep everything cool until I got to my destination. However, I just plugged the fan up when I would drive and unplug it when I would park for more than ten mins. Well this worked just fine until one day I went to plug up the fan and one of the plugs had fallen off and left two wire with the metal tips. Now, there are 5 wires in that area, one main one connected to the opposite side of the fan and 4(green, green/white, black, and white, I think) I don't have the plug that they go thru but I just tried every combination and gradually eliminated each one until there were just two left. this still didn't work. but when the missing plug was connected and when i would plug them together, the fan was come on immediately. I don't know which wires connect to the other plug????? If you have read my post immediately before this one, now I'm thinking that this is why I'm having coolant leaking problems. perhaps the coolant problem was festering and was giving me a warning problem. In a perfect world, I would like to identify the two wires, get a plug for them and just connect them together so that the fan works normally. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Malik
