My Cd unit was broken in my car so I took it apart to clean it... yeah anyway I think I ended up breaking it. So I am looking for something to replace it as well. I was wondering if anyone knows how it works to replace because mine has the two seperate units and I just wanted to know how the wireing works... I have an Alpine headunit and I ordered this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mgxVJ7QlIBO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103000&I=120701739 but I don't understand how it will match up with the stock plug :(?

Also answer to a radio that will fit Depending on your budget but these have sort of the stock green look (not very stock looking overall however) and have an avaliable IPOD adapter. 1st set is the lower priced option 2nd set is the better quality option.

Radio 1:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mgxVJ7QlIBO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=130DEHP290
ipod adapter for radio 1, accessory listing scroll to ipod adapters,2nd thing)
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mgxVJ7QlIBO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&tab=other_items&i=130DEHP290#Tab

Radio 2:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mgxVJ7QlIBO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=500CDA9820
ipod adapter for radio 2, same deal scroll to the PAC ipod adapter cable)
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mgxVJ7QlIBO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&tab=other_items&i=500CDA9820#Tab

CrutchField is also very good about giving you what you need to install it as far as instructions, adapters and whatever else you need.

If you do get something on there here is a referal code pkyak-w0pz1-hy0ky ($20.00 off for you)

Good luck with your problem let us know what you end up doing.:)

The plugs in that picture plug into the car's harness behind the dash. The bare wire ends, you will need to connect to the corresponding wires on your Alpine stereo, either with solder, or crimp connectors, or some other secure method. On the left harness:

Black = Ground
Red = Switched power
Yellow = Constant power
Orange = Illumination (connected to dash dimmer)
Blue = Power antenna

On the right harness you have connections to each of the four speakers. I don't remember which colors go to which speaker, but it's not important. The colors on this harness will match up to the colors on your Alpine's harness (likely the same is true for the other connections).

It's really easy once you've done it the first time.

What really sucks though, is when you come across a hack job on a car you just bought, where some podunk stereo shop actually CUT the wires off the factory harness behind the dash to install an aftermarket deck :x :nono; ! That's totally uncalled for and unnecessary. At least though, they only cut the one with five wires, not the eight wire one.
