i've got a dodgy ign switch, sometimes the dash light's dont come on {wont start} sometimes they do {it will start},a bit of to and fro with the ign key and it lights up and away we go,but now i've noticed the EDU is blacked out and not lit as it should be, is this down to the switch or is it something else, any links to the swap over procedure would be helpful, ta,
It's usually just the bulbs that are blown. There are 3, it's surprising how much it lights up when there's still only one working so don't assume that all 3 have blown together, more like they've gone one by one and you haven't noticed.
Replacement is pretty easy, remove the dash top, remove the instrument console and just swap over. The bulbs are type 509T.
i took the dash top off , i didn't have time to pull it out as i had the school run to do, so as i had a wee problem with the r/h/s speaker i checked the connections , i eventually decided to swap it with 1 from the donor, whilst i was turning the ign to get the tranny to come on for a sound check, i noticed that the edu was lit a few on/off's with the key to check it ,and it was lighting up no bother ,strange i thought, must have touched something when pulling the dash top off, tried it again and it wont light up , must be the ign switch ,
Check the connectors to the back of the instrument cluster, other than that, it really is a case of troubleshooting back to the source or start from the power source and go forwards, your choice.
it was the trip counter, i always reset after refueling, then it started to become a bit of a fight to get all the 0's in a nice line, so i must have pushed the EDU away from it's contact or other. i didn't change the switch cos i couldn't find my alan key's ;oops: all i have to do now is thump the top of the dash , and on she come's :cheesy: .
