i have an 87 turbo and there is an 89 non turbo with a blown tranny for sale only $175 and my question is how interchangable are the parts on them?

would it be worth buying for a parts car?

i figured it wouldnt hurt having around for so cheap but insight would be very helpful

I believe the transmissions will interchange, but the ratios are different as I recall. Most all the parts outside of the engine, transmission, and ECU, will be identical. Oh, the '87 does not have ABS, whereas the '89 does - so brake rotors and possibly calipers and lines are are different. But you didn't want to swap those anyway. I'd say whether to get it depends on how much storage space you have, how cheap it is, and how much your '87 needs parts.
