My 9000 CDE seems to have water sloshing about inside the rear door when it has been raining heavily.
Any ideas on where it could be coming from, or how best to "drain" this. I am looking to buy a replacedment door, but in the meantime I want to drain it off if I can.
It seems to be water that has collected at the bottom of the door.
Suggestions abd practical advice would be appreciated
In my opinion, Saabs have a basic design flaw in this area, the rubber moulding on the bottom edge of the doors. Doors are designed with drains so that condensation and water from rainstorms will drain out of the door. The moulding effectively plugs all the drains in the door, leading to your problem of water accumulation in the doors.
I had this problem on several of my doors. I have since removed all of the rubber mouldings and have not had the problem since. There has been no additional noise or any other problems from removing the moulding.
The door moulding and the rubber plugs on the outflows from the sunroof drains are two designs that just make no design sense in an otherwise very well engineered car.
These are fitted to stop pressure behind the fire wall from blowing the draining water back up the drain tube, if removed you will get a gurgling noise if its raining heavy and you are travelling over 50mph.
I've never had any drain problems with doors even with the seals fitted except when I've waxolyed the inner door. I have to wait until its solidified then unblock the slots.

I'll take my chances with the gurgling. Mine plugged up and in a heavy rain, the car was flooded, ruining the headliner. Its the major cause of water damage in these cars, poeple post about it very frequently.
As far as the door drains, I started to get rust along the bottom of my drivers door because of trapped water. There is no downside to removing the moulding and only benefits, so why not?
