I am a newbie to saabs, and ive noticed ever sincei bought my 93 CSE that I have a boost probelm when im at peak boost. The videos are all horrible, but you can still see the boost gradually falling as the RPM's rise, and if u look closley, the boost is flunctuating up and down. When the car is spooling i can feel the power but when it stops spooling i feel like the car has 100hp.
Ive done a boost leak search, but in my experience with cars, boost leaks usually feel, sound different then what i sensing.
What u guys think is the problem?
Again sry about the horrible videos, ill get better ones soon.
i'd say check the spring tension on your wastegate actuator. It's probably shot and will need to be replaced. The arm should give strong resistance when you pull on it. Other than that, check out your boost pressure controller...and the vacuum lines running TO it for cracks. Try swapping for one that you KNOW works..
cheers mate,

p.s.
if you have to buy a new WGA, go for the forge unit. it's $190 and can the spring can be swapped out for a stronger one if you start tuning.. it's also about $200+ less than another OEM one from saab and will be higher quality.
I cannot tell what is going on there, need to see the rpm with the boost gage and I need to know if you are wot the entire time? Check base boost by disconnecting the electrical connection to your bpc. You need to put a boost gage or pressure gage on the car to test base boost. It should be about 5.5-6psi, if its less, that could be your problem. You can also add a helper spring in place of a new actuator and get the base boost you want by adjusting the length of the spring. John
well i was WOT the whole time the car was accelerating.
if my spring is bad, i can just buy a new spring correct? HOw do u see it creeping boost? I dont see it happening. I believe you, just i want to see what you mean by the boost creeping.
BTW i was doing WOT from about 25-35 MPH in second gear.
no not yet, I ordered some vacum hoses for the turbo control hoses. I will be checking out my wastegate actuator this weekend. New video hopefully will come as soon as i can get my cousin or anyone to help me out. School is just taking up to much time.
On a side note- i raced my cousins RSX type s and kept up until 3rd gear. Hopefuly after this problem is fixed i will tag with him alittle longer Hate it when i have turbo problems that dont get resolved quickly( I have a Rx7 also)
