Hi! My aircon pulley has started to squeek, would I be right in assuming this is the first sign of the unit begining to seize up? If so are there any cheap methods of repair?
As a last resort I was going to try and source a shorter belt so the rubber belt can bypass the aircon unit. Does anyone know what size belt I would need, to do this?

If it's the idler pulley on the AC compressor then the repair is to replace the compressor or, as you stated, bypass it completely.
If you were in a warmer climate I'd suggest going for the repair once the noise gets worse. Does the noise happen all the time or only when the AC is on?
Are you spraying the lubricant into the pulley or onto the pulley? If it's all the time and you're positive it's the AC pulley and not another pulley or the belt itself (definitely a cheaper repair) then it is the AC idle pulley.
For bypassing, if no one has done it already you'd have to pull the compressor and use a string to measure the length you need.
Yes it definately seems to be the AC unit, the noise is definately coming from there. I'll ask my local mechanic to measure the belt size and bypas the unit then I guess. Thanks for you help.

No problem. I'm having a hard time picturing the layout in my head, but the AC compressor may have to be removed in order to bypass it. None of the above is very dificult if you have a parts store and a jack though.
