TooMany2cvs 24-11-08, 04:37 PM Thanks. It was absolutely amazing. If you can, set aside a minimum of 14 days.
Even that'd be a rush.
We took 3.5wks to drive from Boston, down the East Coast, and across to California, then another week around California - and wanted to take FAR longer.
Single stage paint rocks.
It sure does! Lovely work, pal
I can't wait to see the full, finished job after the bumpers ... keep us all posted.

... the inadvertent lens flare came from a little spec of grease on the lens.
Mirror finish black is a bit of a giggle, isn't it?

Surprisingly, no. I pasted the rest of the feature on the edited post above if anyone needs toilet-reading material.....
Ok, ok, so the gearbox isn't exactly bomb-proof, but it sounded good.

euromobile900 25-11-08, 12:20 PM Nix,
Nice teal SPG. I have always liked that color, ever since I test-drove a teal Honda Accord and locked the keys in it with the engine running in the dealer's lot ;oops: (I'm not kidding!) I subsequently bought a silver 900. Life goes on, and it's a flat front, so I forgive it for being boring old silver.
One question:
I have a roofrack just like that on my 900, but it's Yakima and minus the fairing. Ever since I got my rack, I haven't been able to drive with the sunroof open above about 45 mph because of wind noise. I have one of those tinted plastic things that goes over the front of the sunroof, but this doesn't seem to help or hurt the noise.
How do you find the wind noise on your car with the sunroof open? Does the fairing seem to help quiet things down a bit? If it does, I might make one from some sheet plastic or aluminum. You're the only person I've seen who's put a fairing like that on a 900, so I would really appreciate your input.
Here is my spg. It was a flood victim about 5 years ago, and was since torn down and rebuilt. It is completely rust free and runs like a champ now.

I think it only helps wind noise a little, mostly cuts the high-pitch screaming sound, but I put it back on when gas prices were like $4/gallon to try and help with mileage.

Valchog - That is an excellent job on the '79. I really enjoyed the pictures in the post of SAAB Club Bulgaria, despite not being able to read Bulgarian. Thanks for the link ... and welcome to the forum here ;)
euromobile900 25-11-08, 06:53 PM Valchog, that is possibly the prettiest B-engine I have ever seen. Very nice indeed! And I really like your creative solution to replace the old and crappy gear-driven water pump with a belt-driven one! Without the water pump, the B engine is the highest-revving engine you can put in a 900, I believe. Very cool.
The car also looks super nice without any trim on the sides. Shows off those 99-esque lines.
grif900 25-11-08, 07:26 PM Valchog-very cool car (now) . Euro- is that not a b-motor? For those who would care to read about it, and dont read bulgarian try this.

valchog 25-11-08, 07:31 PM Thank you.
This is B-engine, but the project is frozen because I bought a 900 turbo from the last page of the post. It was LPG, but now it has APC, IC, new engine, and soon wil test it on a brand new Dyno. We wait it to come from USA in december.
I'll post photos. :lol::lol:
grif900 25-11-08, 07:44 PM Are you waiting for the car or the dynamometer?
valchog 25-11-08, 07:46 PM We wait for the dynamometer.
euromobile900 25-11-08, 08:18 PM yeah sorry, I always get the letters mixed up. I corrected my post--it said B in one place and H in another ;oops:
Anyway, I meant B. Sorry. But yeah, I think the B motors are pretty cool (mainly because of BIRDIEMANGO's carburetor 99s).
I get them mixed up because the designations for the H engines B201 and B202 obviously have B in them. EVERY DAMN TIME. GRRR.

Paul Campagna 18-12-08, 08:29 PM Any chance you could let us know how you fitted the 9000 aero seats in your c900?
Sure, One side fit in the stock hole then i drilled holes where they needed to be on the right side through half of the mounting rail, then snaked a bolt under the rail through the side I think and when i placed the bolt trough the top then just held the nut underneath until it was tight enough to hold the seat. - It has been a few years, so i'm not sure how i did the rear, but i might've just mounted them with a bolt through the bottom of the car?.... The back seats were a different story....

Sorry I should have been more specific, I wanted to know how you fitted the rear seats in since they don't look squashed like regular 9000 rear seats do.
Most people who have them in the rear have to do mods to the actual seats rather than just a direct fit with some mounting mods. Any info you can share would be really good thx
Paul Campagna 19-12-08, 06:55 PM it took me about 7 hours to get them in there. - They are tight, TIGHT! , but i actually didn't have to modify the seats at all. I'm not sure how i can explain the fitting better, but I basically put both sides in at once, then where they folded together in the "A" frame shape, i just used all my body weight to push down in the middle and they squeezed in there. Just had to run a board across the back to connect them when they were pushed together . When I attached the board across the back it basically holds them in there....
- The back won't fold down at all, so if you wanted to take advantage of the hatchback, that not an option. The sides dig into the panels so much, that they don't move and The bottom are so tight they are no't even attached to anything. People can sit back there comfortable with little problems. -Well if you call no leg room and having to squeeze around the front seats comfortable....
Since it's so hard to get back there, (remember the seats don't lean forward) , i don't have people sit back there very often. - (Maybe ten times in three years??)
It gives me an excuss not to be the designated driver. ;0)
I've seen people modify the sets and even recover the 900 seats to look like the aero seats, so i was very skeptical on doing it, but somehow they fit nice and could pass for stock if you didn't know any better
O BTW you have to put the rear seats in first, so don't even think about trying it with the front seats in....

I have wanted a set of these seats for so long, but just don't find them around here. I can't see why anybody couldn't mod these seats to work like the OEM seats. You could pull the leather and foum off the frame and weld in the seat adjusters and brackets, then put it back together.

I know a guy called Samir in Kuwait. We work for the same company but I dont know if he's also a classic Saab owner.
Actually this car was imported from Japan in 2002. There are not too many classic Saab here in Dubai. I could only recall seen them less than 3 times over the past 4 years.
Just bought the car before Christmas. Left it in the workshop to replace the gasket and now it's my everyday's car to the office. Yesterday I stopped at gas station for a car wash and people stopped by and looked at my car as they have never seen before. One guy even asked if I wanted to sell it:nono;

Nice Saab Burj. There is an interesting article in 0-60 magazine on cars in Dubai. Talks about how new, one of a kind, cars are everything there when it comes to value. Also about how the license plate numbers work there. Must also be nice to not have to pay any taxes!

Yep they probaly have too much oil money to spend. The money they spent to buy a licence plate is just complete insane. Last year one guy threw in 6.4m USD for the M-1 plate, thanks god the money go to the charity.
The guy who sold me the car is also a big plate number fan. He has 6 cars and every one of them has the same number (only the starting letters are different).:cheesy:

only got 110000k's on it ~ 60 k miles.
not even the smallest speck of rust anywhere.
New top, newly imported super -aero's, new tyres. got an aero kit to go on but needs spraying first. I just cut 1 coil off the front springs to drop it to a correct stance.

motomartin 06-01-09, 12:14 AM I do everything myself for the last 20 years - up until last month.
I now have a 18 mth old boy who is very time demanding - so i got the local garage to fit a new brake M/c after the seals went soft.

Certainly does look good, pal - the shut lines are really clean on yours. Do you have any plans for cosmetics on the exterior? Maybe an Aero bodykit?

I have not realy done any exterior work or body work.. Just keeping things clean, and making sure it all hold securely togeather.
I would absolutely love a Aero bodykit, but how in the world would i get one and what is the price?
Well, if it's a pain to come by, some people paint the panels on the sides in black under the side stripe :nono;
You could do with a good claying on the wheels and a little hint ... Duragloss and Finish Kare are both absolutely awesome detailing products for white - Duragloss 601/105 (pre-bond agent and "Total Performance Polish") after a little Finish Kare 215 (one-step cleaner) and/or Finish Kare 303 (a swirl filling glaze). You'll be left with practically a mirror finish.
Here's some glitz when I tried out Duragloss 652 (a pre-cleanser but not as good as Finish Kare 215 IMO), 601 and 105:

Thanks for the suggestions. Mine's black, with faint water marks on the bonnet. Which products will make it better? Based on your post, I would imagine using a Finish Kare 215, followed by a 303?

Black is a whole other matter - for water marks you need a light polish or an abrasive cleanser, so Finish Kare 215 would be a good choice. There are many others out there, but this Finish Kare one-step cleaner is very good indeed ... and I've tried a few.
From there, black is all about depth rather than simply bright gloss. A glaze is essential in my book and I have always enjoyed Meguiars #7 from their Professional range. Finish Kare's 303 glaze is excellent and very oily smelling, like Meg's #7 - it delivers depth and a better mirror finish IMO. Poorboys World Black Hole is another favourite, but while that delivers better swirl filling I do not think the finish is as deep as the Meguiars of Finish Kare glazes.
After a glaze, you need a darkening wax - there are loads out there and pretty much anything that says it is "suited to red or black". Pinnacle Souveran and Chemical Guys Pete's 53 Black Pearl are two that come to mid as delivering a darker, deeper effect while retaining a high gloss. Meguiars #26 is stated on the bottle of #7 as the wax to follow up with, but that delivers depth but no gloss and needs following up with a glossy wax - if I use #26, I follow up with #16 or Collinite 476S. Talking of Collinite, their 915 is probably the best choice for black after a glaze - it deepens, darkens, retains gloss and lasts forever. It has a very light cleaner in the mix, so after a month you can pop another coat on and the cleaners will even up the surface of the last coat of wax.
Washing is important - you need to pick a pH neutral shampoo and stick to the suggested dilution ratios so as not to simply wash off all your hard work and products. I like Duragloss 901 as my preferred shampoo - it cleans, has some anti-corrosion elements in there and most importantly wicks water away, practically drying itself ... which means less chance of water spots. I often use a quick detail spray to help dry off the last few drops and really like Lucas Slick Mist; again after trying many many products on the market, I have settled on this QD as my preferred. I am just trying out Finish Kare's 425 and Duragloss 951 on a number of products, but as yet it's still Lucas Slick Mist for me ;)
Re-cap? Whites suffer from oxidisation quickly, so need a good paint cleanser, or light polish more regularly. An all-in-one polish, like Autoglym Super Resin Polish or dedicated one step cleaner, like Finish Kare 215 is to be recommended quite regulars - these will deal with water spotting, too. Whites also benefit most from a synthetic finish, using sealants rather than waxes to deliver a cool, bright, glossy and mirror finish shine without the warmth and slight dulling that comes from a wax. I know I suggested using Finish Kare 303 on a white car, which is technically a glaze and often more suited to dark coloured cars, but this product delivers "the Finish Kare look" which is very glassy and I think this step on white really adds something to the final glassy mirror look. Black cars are all about depth and warm gloss, which comes from a glaze and wax.

tsksaab 18-01-09, 07:40 PM A thread like this should never die... so here are some updated photos of my car after working on it a bit this afternoon.
There was a lot of crud building up on the edges of the rear badges so I took all of them off to give my car a proper polishing. I have a brand new Griffin badge ready to go and originally planned to rebadge everything, but I'm starting to like how clean my car looks.

TrollMedic 18-01-09, 10:46 PM Looks really,really sweet!
Some say black is really the best c900 color.
The build quality of the c900 cars is really quite amazing.
Doors shut like a bank valt door, perfect and solid.
That's the way old Porsches and Mercedes cars used to be.
The small Saab/Scania emblem in the middle makes your Blackie look really special, understated elegance.
I'm torn myself.
Should I go with no rear emblems or just a new small Saab/Scania emblem, maybe installed to the left rear on hatch, maybe the center, not sure yet.
Only thing is................ I believe the black area between the lamps is supposed to be flat black, not shinny.
I've got a c900S 1993 na, us model, much like your car.
Freshly redid the engine and replaced the bad auto trans. last fall.
Tan leather and sun roof.
My rear hatch is bashed in but still operates and closes perfectly.
I thought I'd get another straight shinny black hatch but has not proved such an easy thing to get done.
My car has been put up in the barn till warm weather returns.
I can't even get to the barn these days because of the built up snow.
We've had 10 inches of fresh snow just today.
I can't wait to get her out and break in the new engine.
If you have never driven yours on snow covered roads you have never experienced that car's true and intended character.
You might think of taking her up into the snow and really see what that car really likes to do.
I've been looking at Craig's list for c900 Saabs over your California way and have seen some really clean ones going for seemly small money.
Thanks for the great pictures.
Happy Saabin!

not necessarily :nono; I`ve had plane jane black c900 just like this one with tan velour interior and I loved it. tsksaab 21-01-09, 06:21 PM Looks nice. Is there a reason why you removed the center storage pieces in the N/A? I ask b/c I'm considering doing the same thing with mine too. The rattle is starting to get pretty bad...and I need to pull the carpets to investigate a leak.
The N/A has slicers from a 9000, not aeros.

The car originally came with the curlies as it appears in the first picture. When I went to the saab owner's convention in Devens, Massachusetts this last past summer i put the originals back on. Out of the two sets of wheels I have I prefer the Aeros, and usually have those on the car.
LiveSAAB900t 21-01-09, 09:50 PM I really don't want to do anything too drastic to my car, but do you guys have any feelings on the swedish dynamics red series apc package ( i believe this includes the reprogrammed apc, red series injectors, and I was going to add the eprom). I was planning on purchasing it this summer. The targeted 230 horse power range is about as much as I would feel comfortable getting out of the motor. I do not want to go crazy with all kinds of modifications, but would like a little more power. This package seemed like a good route, but i am deff open for suggestions.

First we had one car a piece, then we both bought daily drivers of the same year. Stop copying me or I will sue (even though you had your vert first and a DD before me).
LiveSAAB900t 22-01-09, 01:38 AM Is that a scuff on the front fender?
If you are talking about the front right corner of the bumper cover then yes. Unfortunately the individual that owned this car before me did not care as much about its condition as I do. I believe he was not the best at parking and as a result the front and back bumpers are riddled with scuffs. I have done my best to buff these out and was some what successful but several are quite deep. I have been keeping an eye out for new bumper covers.

Once a car hits three years old, it has to have a current MOT certificate to be legal to use on the road. The test takes about 45min, costs "no more than" £50, and a pass lasts 12 months (or, if the old certificate's got less than a month left, 12mo from the old expiry date, so up to 13mo).

Sorry I did mean bumper cover. You can easily sand them down and remmove the scuffs, filler primer and re-paint. did my last year and they came out nice. Only prob is that the paint i used was not the best and they are starting to peal. But the right paint will do it up nice. Or you can order new covers from eeuroparts and I believe thesaabsite

hello everyone i know this might not be the right place for this im sorry, i am trying to post pictures of my project, and i want to get the pictures bigger than i can when i do the attatchment option on here...

(It's a "sticky" thread on the main page of this forum!)
Certainly looks better than the pics in the Saab brochures

davidlytle 23-01-09, 03:45 PM This thread inspired me to learn how to use a digital camera. I'm only 23 and probably should know how to use one by now like the rest of my generation. An hour and half later, here are the results. Something about the camera didn't capture the subtleties of the 16 year old rose quartz paint, but some of the pictures came out fairly well...hope you like my baby!

PS - you might not be able to see it in these pictures, but here's the DC license plate slogan - "TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION" - write your local senator or house representative (unless you also live in DC and don't have one!)
PPS - I wish I could have gotten it on a lift to capture the beauty of the 3/8" thick coating of oil and sludge all over my bottom side! Ironically, there is really no rust at all underneath :D
(edit) post now improved with working pictures!!!
Probably one of the only ones left with red leather! I have been searching searching to find red leather.....And I have. But they are from what the mechanic says pretty shotty.
Very nice seats. Keep them nice!!!!!

Silent Saab, very cool & different. Nice work. You should start a thread in the Performance section describing your modifications - I am also interested in the mechanical lifters! I had stage III cams that liked the 7500-8000 range but the lifters couldn't keep up...
Silent Saab 24-01-09, 04:00 AM ironjoe
> hey i messed up i really wanna do mechanical lifters, the guy that builds all my heads is trying to figure it out, right now i just have the stage one valve springs, well sorry ill let you know when he finishes should be soon
IronJoe 24-01-09, 12:48 PM Cool, what's the rev limit with the stage 1 valve springs?
Silent Saab 24-01-09, 03:20 PM I still have stock rev limit, but it should be able to hold to 7500 rpm so yeah but I'm only on 11 pounds of boost an shift about 5500

Saab named Jag 24-01-09, 06:40 PM I thought I recognised it, I looked at it when I was shopping for a "new" 900;)
scooturd 24-01-09, 07:10 PM Well, you might be glad you passed it up. So, since you're close, do you recommend any mechanics? I think I need a new radiator. I'm on the east side.

The is very nice! I really now clean it all is. I like the wheels in the first shot, but not head on. They really looked dished out which is nice. The front bumper looks out of place. Just my thoughts as you asked. It is a very nice car. NOW LETS SEE SOME INTERIOR!!! :cheesy:
Silent Saab 24-01-09, 09:46 PM thanks for your input, i taped and painted the wheels myself... i really like them, the front bumper is off a 90 eclipse gsx, i need to get it really painted and finish and i think it will look fine, i really want an aero bumper but surely cant find any around here.. oh and interior i really dont like mine its the worst part, seats torn, super cracked dash, the little strip is coming unglued around the dash, sun roof leaks, and windsheild leaks too...
thanks

Saab named Jag 25-01-09, 01:16 AM So, since you're close, do you recommend any mechanics? I think I need a new radiator. I'm on the east side.
Well I'm actualy in the Harrisburg area so the place I go would be a drive for you. I go to Lititz Auto service in Lititz. Its not really close to me either but they KNOW c900's. You might try calling them and asking though, they are really helpful, 717-664-5595
Silent Saab 26-01-09, 11:00 AM bump bump bump
mattsaab 26-01-09, 11:09 AM Silent, I like the black wheels and the dark tint, very slick looking. I don't know about that front bumper though... the grey color isn't working for me. If it were black, or the same white as the body i think it'd be perfect. But right now the yellow fogs in that grey bumper seem to break the general scheme of the car.
looks nice though!
Silent Saab 26-01-09, 11:23 AM thanks mattsaab, the front bumper is the same color as the rear bumper... i think that i am going to get the spg sides and the part for the rear bumper and it might look better, i really jus want a aeroflow front bumper...

Diggin your beater! How did you lower it?
gregd4g 03-02-09, 03:41 PM Not lowered...just stock ride height. I was talking more along the lines of getting a nice low spoiler in the front which I did with a little bit of creativity.
Greg - I love that chin spoiler! Quite an improvement over the original IMO
mattsaab 03-02-09, 04:37 PM I agree, your DIY garden-edger bumper lip looks great! I'm tempted to try it myself, but i suspect that a part of why it works visually is that you've got those fog lights down there... whereas I'm going to put some Hella500's above the bumper on mine, so I don't know if the lip would look as good.
nice job though!

I'd assume a straighter path for the compressed air and the exhaust leaving the turbo, vs a more convoluted one for the exhaust gas to the turbo - but it probably allows a bigger turbo.

using the stock brackets wasn't my first choice, but it turned out to be the easiest and safest way.

Also put in an Alpine cd9886 in the lower DIN slot and moved the empty slot up to the upper console, for easier access to phone, keys, change, etc...

TooMany2cvs 18-02-09, 05:49 PM It really really is, isn't it?
Definitely.
Now, about changing from slant-nose to flat-nose...?
I own an Aero shape 8V C900 and I love it to absolute bits ... literally! I have owned one flat nose C900 too and I would swap in an instant. I love the flat nose shape and I love the 8V turbo. Shame my flat nose was a 900i ;)
I hope to own a flat nose C900 CD at some point and that will be an 8V turbo.
Definitely.
Now, about changing from slant-nose to flat-nose...?
The body panels are the same shape. Easy done!
Drop the side stripes for style, pop some flat nose bumpers on and a front chin spoiler. Instant VERY coool :cheesy:

Not for me thanks... But I would love to own another. That said my current, slope nose, 900 is never getting sold so if I get a flat nose it'll be an extra car as it were.
My first 900 was an uber rare '79/80 GLE so I appreciate the flat front..Really miss that car but it's what started my love of 900's.
Also, 2cv just noted your location, anywhere near Kentish Town?

Don't most of the 900s have holes drilled in the body underneath the lower side trim? I know the upper side stripes are easy to take off, but what about the lower ones, where the SPG kit would otherwise mount? I really like the 99-esque look of the 900 sans striping.
They'd need filling and polishing over, but it's not a big deal.

You want to get yourself a set of super aeros to go on it then it'll look just right.

Similar to the green P some people display for a year or so after passing their test over here, but compulsory for (two years?) in Oz.

as plain as those rims are, i kinda like them. something different. the clean and shiny C900s ALWAYS have super aeros on them. its nice to see one now and then without 'em.

But superaeros are just so Right. The old 8V, now they looked good with the spokes.
Cool, multiquotes. How I've missed them. :cheesy:
Here's an update of mine, I've put on the front flatnose SPG panels and have got the rears on now too, but they need to be re-painted. I'd also love to put on side skirts, but that's a bit of a pipe dream at the moment.
Also, new Sportmax 006 17"x7's, which I've been eyeing for a long time, but didn't really like the chrome on it. Some guy had it locally for $800 including the tires (Nexen 205/40/17) which are a bit small, but heck, that's super cheap! I'll swap the tires out next year, perhaps, but the new look is starting to grow on me. There were centre caps included as well, but that was just too ricer. I may very well have the whole rim powdercoated to a metallic dark grey, not just sparkly, but the type that actually looks like metal...and yes, including the chrome part.

SEM Charcoal Metallic, with a dark flexible primer. I used a light flex primer on the rear bumper and it took a lot of coats of pait to cover it. The SEM paint is great though. Very easy to use. Note that only the bumpers and corners are painted. I have not yet done the door and side panels, as they didn't really need it, and my understanding is that it has to be done on the car, or rivets drilled out. I am not very excited about either prospect.
nbndtrain 29-04-09, 10:22 AM The headlight wipers are pure Saab, put them back on!
I don't think the SPG's came with headlight wipers.

brownie 29-04-09, 05:39 PM Hi Grif, I hope you're doing well and that your cars are running strong. I haven't had any issues over the winter other than a loose hall sensor connector and a loose radiator petcock (resulting from a disintegrating rubber seal). I may be on cape this summer for a week, or for the whole season. Let me know if you ever find a nice trunk lid for my sedan. Chris

Two-door sedan AND a sunroof. You are indeed blessed . . . I have my heart set on a 2-door like yours, with or without the hole in the roof. It's the perfect base for a performance project. I've already got the lowered springs, 9000 front brakes and 2.3 head ready to go, but that's all so far.

Here's some updated shots, showing the front and rear SPG bumper extensions...they will be re-painted as soon as I can find the SEM bumper paint around town, probably do it in semi-gloss black or something. The rear extension is simply dirty in the first pic, but the other side rear panel is peeling.

The pics make the paint look better than it actually is, even though I had most of the car re-painted already, the last job of which included the hood, the roof, the 4 doors, the rear left quarter panel, and the trunk lid. Pretty much the only exterior showing bits not painted are the front two fenders. But after a detailing job, it should look absolutely fantastic. I'd like to get some tinting done as well, but I'm in no rush. I'm also starting to look at other wheels (also mesh but silver/machined) and new tires now.

mattsaab 12-06-09, 12:03 PM @ludichris - looking nice! You've got the 4-door version of my 900 S. the citrin beige looks great when it's shined up.
li arc - car looks sweet... what tires are you considering? I just bought some new tires and went with 195/60/15 as opposed to the 205/60/15 that are on there now. Got the "General Altimax HP", pretty cheap and had the best reviews on tirerack.
Whatever size you've got on there now looks perfect though, is the car lowered at all???
You wanna hook me up? :P
Hey not a problem at all, if I do decide to sell the rims and tires! But I've been getting some great compliments from other car buffs not familiar with Saabs, and it looks like I'm getting used to how the black and chrome wheels go with the black and chrome trim on my car! If you're interested in just finding a set online though, these are Sportmax/XXR 006 rims...there are better mesh rims out there than these, in my opinion, but not as easy to find and definitely not as good value!
li arc your car is looking great!

Thanks IJ! I really do like the conv rear spoiler, but I'm not sure if it'll fit on the 4-door? I've got a 4-door trunk lid spoiler in storage, but it just seems...a little tacky, to me. It's not the small one that's just a strip neither, it's the larger 'u' shaped one. If I find one (though I have yet to see a convertible at the yard) I'll definitely snag it!

Hey, the tires I'm considering are either the Falken Azenis RT-615, or the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW (the firey looking one!), although I've heard good things about the General Exclaim UHP, great performance for a good price. These are 205/40/17's, which are actually too small compared to stock, I should be using 205/45/17's or 225/40/17's, though I'm not certain if I'd get rub or not with the latter. And yes, I've got Koni adjustable shocks in there and Afco springs all around, the setup for the rear provided by Brad, and the setup for the front provided by Squaab!
Thanks for all the kind comments guys, she's definitely one of my greatest loves right now! Unfortunately, yesterday as I was heading out to work, while coming out of an underground parking garage from my condo at <5km/hr I got hit from the right on the bumper by an oncoming VW going at about 30km/hr. Needless to say, the right headlight went (dammit, almost perfect glass too!), plus the signal lamp as well, and the bumper is now useless. There may be damage to the rad support as well, but seeing as I can't open up the hood at the moment, I can't be sure. The hood is skewed slightly counter-clockwise, and the right fender has buckled left a bit; because the bumper is hanging off the left side about 3" or more, it looks like the bumper support frame has been bent on both sides. The hood has moved backwards a bit too, and scraped paint off my driver side door and off the windshield wiper support frame. The good news is from what I can tell so far, there was only structural damage (engine and everything in the bay is fine), and it looks like the major repair work that needs to be done is straightening the frame and repainting. Replacing the headlight, signal lamp, the bumper, and rad support I can easily get from the yard, and the SPG bumper extensions look like they're flexible enough to be re-shaped if need be.
The guy who hit me dragged his whole side along my bumper, so both his driver side doors were dented and need paint, his left fender is totally wrinkled, his driver side door now bent from opening against the fender, and his control arm or struts must've given out...must be tough given that was his girlfriend's car!
Guess where I'm headed this weekend? :p

I'm still a big fan of the 15-spoke, it's a nice stock wheel, and I've heard it's also called the "Turbo 85 sunburst", so mine's the first year it came out! I've been using minilites for my winters, but I'm thinking of going back to the sunbursts for winter instead, since they are, in my opinion, cleaner and a nice stock wheel. The minilites are more aggressive, but they work better on pre-facelift 3-door hatches than on my 4-door.
That being said, a guy who seemed to have been using the minilites on his Prelude or Accord or something here in town is selling a full set of minilites in good condition with Michelin X-Ice tires for $150! :cheesy: Unfortunately the tires are 205-60-R15's, but perhaps running them for the winter will fix my odometer running my 205/40/R17's :p I tried the Green Diamond winter tires but Calgary's weather just seems to get the better of them...so $150 for some new winter (60% tread) tires seems like a good deal anyhow.

Turbo00 16-06-09, 02:36 PM Some really awesome 900s in this thread, makes me pretty jealous, but also inspires me to spend a little time with my poor neglected 85. Here it is after a wash a few years back, 1985 900i with a fair amount of modification:

And here's one from my wedding back in the fall of 2007! It was the only decision I really got to make :)

also new are the louvers, hellas, and barrecrafter rack.
edit: hmmm - looks like my hosting acct no longer works, reuploaded.

Picked it up off of craigslist... installation actually wasn't bad at all. I followed the guide by Rob that's floating around out there, and ALL the panels slid on, no pounding/banging/popping etc.. as described in the guide (maybe a testament to the condition of the rails i got).
Painting it was actually the most frustrating part.
Keep an eye on craigs-list and the "Bay" site ;) If you need help finding some panels, give me a PM - i "might" have a few left over...
