Hi, my name is Aaron and I live in White House Tennessee in th US, I just purchased a 1996 9000 CSE, The car has the 2.3t mated to the 5-speed manual gearbox, is Scarab Green w/tan leather interior with 124,xxx miles on the clock. So far I am loving the car, save for a few minor issues, number one being that that the speedometer is not working, haven't had the chance to investigate that one yet, also the drivers side window stopped working the second day I had it, so I took the door apart and removed the regulator and tested the leads and got 12V from the switch side on pressing the up and down button, so i then proceeded to take apart the spool of cable :nono; bad idea! to get the motor out to see of it was binding up. no problem there, so I rechecked the power from the switch and this time I only got 12V when the switch was in the up position. So it looks like a bad relay or switch. Now i have to but the damn cable back over the pulleys and it's about 10mm to short it seems, anyone know an easy way to get the cable back on?
So thats it's for the problems, I'll be posting more info and pics as I start fixing this stuff. Thanks,
Aaron

I forgot to mention that when I am pulling to a stop and depress the clutch the RPM's drop to around 300 then pull themselves back to 900 and stay there but it will drop again if I have to sit too long, going back down to 300RPM's then back to 900.
I will be changing the plugs today and the serpentine belt(not that that would have anything to do with the idle problem) and we'll se if it clears up, my Nissan 240SX did this when the EGR valve was getting stuck open, and all I had to do was clean it and I was good to go. Can the EGR on the 2.3t be cleaned?
Thanks

Check the IAC valve for muck, it's under the throttle body, got 2 pipes going to the TB, and a power connector. It could exhibit the idle issue if it's gunked up, carb cleaner I suppose would clean it up.

Cool, will check. I need to clean the TB anways so I'll do that while I have the TB out.

Well I got my drivers side window fixed :D. I took the whole assembly out of the door to pull the cable over the pulleys. I ended up cutting about 1/4 inch of the plastic tubing off one end to make it easier to get the cable over the pulleys and the tensioners adjusted. But the problem wasn't in the regulator it was actually in the switch assembly. I removed it from the console (mine was a very tight fit, thought I was going to break it prying it out), opened it up and saw that most of the contacts had a nice dusting of black gunk on the metal parts, I cleaned all the contacts off with a piece of 120 grit sandpaper and wiped them off with alcohol, reassembled the switch and tested. Everything worked great!.
I downloaded a TSB from Townsends sight about a speedo gear issue causing the speedo to stop working on certain cars thru a particular serial number range, and since my car is in that range I am hoping it's the gear on the sensor that is bad and not the gear in the transmission. And after doing some searching it seems that the speedo not working is what’s making the car stall out when you come to a stop sometimes, at least other people have noted that there cars started stalling when the speedo stopped working, so I've got my figures crossed about both of these.
And finally I'm going to have to get a new idler pulley and bolt since I rounded off the old bolt trying to remove it (I didn't know it was backwards threaded, my fault for not doing the home work) and I also chipped the pulley in my attempts to get the bolt out so I'm going to have to get the rounded off bolt that I torqued to a million lbs feet out and replace both.
I'll keep y'all updated.
