Hi All,

A friend of mine found yesterday that his Saab 9000 CDE (I think) wouldn't stay in 1st or 2nd gear. When he put it in either gear it would jump across to 3rd or 4th. This apparently happened with no warning just went from driving normally to not having 1st and 2nd, no clunks or similar. He managed to get the car back to my house, and now needs to know what to do with it.

Any ideas on whats gone wrong?

the most likely fault is the gear link connector block behind the gearbox, they have a habbit of splitting so when you move the stick side ways it doesnt move the box
