View Full Version : Stage 1 BSR PPC Boost
Morning All, I have a problem with my car at present which I have emailed BSR/Parts for Saabs about and whilst I await a response I thought I might ask for the forums thoughts on it. My 2000 9 5 aero has a stage one tune from BSR and from the outset it has been fine,no probs whatsoever.Been on the car since July last year. However I changed my plugs and oil last week and since then I have found it would not boost as it had done. It seems to be running as a stock configuration and the boost needle will not go into the red as it did. I attached the PPC and reverted the car back to stock then I downloaded the PPC again and put it back to stage 1 tune. I gave it a run over the weekend and all seemed fine when I blasted it up the mway near our house. However on my way to work this morning again no boost. I pressed that accelerator pedal every which way you can and it just wouldnt fly.
I have no warning lights or other signs of mechanical probs and the plugs are BCPR 7ES. Its rather strange!! So whilst await the boffins reply what do you guys think.Could I have some mechanical gremlin stopping further boost or is it more likely to be a glitch in the software. I favour the software throwing a wobbly but what could corrupt it I ask.
Thanks again David

First signs of a DI that's past it's best maybe.....
It's not uncommon for aging DI's to fail sometimes in the months following an ECU upgrade.

Is it the cat again, did you change it?
Morning again chaps, Just had a response from Paul at PFS and all he can suggest is getting the car checked over for any mechanical faults.Basically he is saying the PPC isnt likely to be the problem. Regarding the last responses guys the DI was new June or July 04.Remembr Chris you got me old one at Wes's. The cat was changed for a used one supplied by you know who.
So there we are. It really is boring at standard level of tune and I will have to sort this out somehow. I may need to try swapping ECU's to eliminate my current ECU being dodgy and hope someone can come up with some mechanical things that dont give CEL's yet could stop the car boosting to its tuned levels. What about wastegate actuator? or something similar.
Cheers chaps. Its nice to know I can ask dopey questions and get such good responses from you lot.I feel a flying visit to Wessys coming on but he,s a busy guy .

I had a fault with mine that gave base boost only. Call Wessy remind him about that and he will talk you through a very quick DIY fix, certainly worth a try!
Its to do with one way valves and fuel tank evaporation I beileve

Thanks Chris,I will ring him shortly, dont call me shortly!!
It sounds very interesting from your post. I may just pop down and see him this week anyway,I havent seen him for a few months and I could also do with him showing me where to fix this new sport transmission mount .
By the way was your fault intermittent? Mine could well be . Also forgot to add when you switch on ignition the check okay sid display doesnt always come on after checking engine.Another anomaly.

:o no , wait your turn. i'mstill waiting for a date for my upgrade;) (not your fault wes)
Just an update folks, spoke with Wes and we are exploring a couple of options. It looks like a faulty valve but we are just checking if the air bypass valve is working correctly as well. Onwards and upwards!!!!
Well after renewing the APC Solenoid and then carrying out a DIY fix courtesy of ChrisWesDic I have now got the boost problem sorted. The old bus boosts as it should do.
As the weather is sunny and reasonably warm up here I am now conemplating jacking up the car and attempting to fit the sport transmission mount. My one concern is I havent a clue where it is and how to do it :o
My only clues are from Jackrabbits recent post about loosening three bolts and loads of baby oil or lubricant and C clamps. Sounds very dodgy. Will I have time to do it before the pubs open??

One and a half hours later its done.I will post a seperate thread to give people a rough idea of what they will need. What a pig of a thing to fit.
And I never rang Wes.

Hello DJ53 could you please tell me what the DIY fix was as I am experiencing the exact same thing with my car. Thanks in advance Alan
