I have a 97' 900SE Turbo Convertible lowered by abbott
racing with the 30MM Springs suitable for 17" Alloys, but I now want to change my wheels can I fit 18" Alloys without having to buy the (18")30MM Springs I need help quick as I have just got a flat tyre and using the space saver.

I don't know what the difference is between Abbots lowering springs. But I have lowered my car about 35mm with H&R springs and Koni adjustables. I run 7.5*18" OZ wheels and there has been no problems what so ever. Only once have I experienced scrubbing in the back but this was with 4 people in the back seat :nono; And my car is a 5d...At least the coupé has a bit bigger rear arches and I believe the same goes for the cabrio..
So you can fit 18" wheels without changing the springs UNLESS there is some bigger difference between the two versions. Hopefully someone here can confirm that !

I've been led to believe that diameter is not an issue as you can compensate by reducing the aspect ratio of the tyre to keep total diameter more or less the same, I have been warned not to go above 215 width which I think requires a 7.5" rim.

I run 225/40-18 on my 7.5" wheels, no problem as I said ! In Sweden there are a few guys running 235/35-19 on gm900/9-3 (in this case the wheel is 8" or 8.5" wide) and what I've heard that shouldn't cause any trouble either, at least not on a 3d !
