: Dash kit options

I really love the interior of my car, but not the wood trim. I've never been a fan of any wood trim, so I've been throwing around the idea of replacing it with a dash kit of some sort.

The only ones I've seen are the aluminum and the carbon fiber. Aluminum and CF would be OK with black or grey interiors, but I'm not so keen on them with the beige.

Something along these lines is what I'm thinking. The official name of this if "Gold Optik" - VW/Audi OEM anodized aluminum dash trim designed specifically for beige interiors - it's kind of a platinum color. Note the area around the stereo and ClimaTronic...

Anyone seen anything like this for the 900's? Leads on dash trim (good quality, reliable) companies that I could check out for other options? Pic posts of your dash trim (non-wood)?

I have the carbon fiber dash, door pulls, and shiftknob in my '97 900 Talladega. Since the dashboard and center console are black on all 900's, I don't think the carbon fiber dashboard and shiftknob would look out of place at all on any color interior, but the door pulls might not look right in a tan interior. The Talladega has tan seats and door inserts on an otherwise black interior.

20Ted - I have an aftermarket supplier that has a lot of patterns - maybe something along those lines. I only see him once a week so be patient and I'll get back to you.

Ok,

What is availible is a Dash Kit. It includes:

Sid Cover
Radio Cover
Dash Cover
Shifter Cover
Glove Box Cover

The pattern is Brushed Aluminum. It is not made from aluminum - But appears to be aluminum with a clear coat layer on top.

The kit is $335.

what kind of dash came on the 99-00 Viggens? I like it. It looks silverish and marbled a bit, and does not look like carbon fiber to me.

The Viggen had some kind of funky dash that was unique to it. It's light grey with speckles in it. It reminds me of solid surfacing countertop materials, like Corian, but it's just a thin laminate.

Since I originally posted this close to three years ago...I've actually grown pretty fond of the wood. In fact I will be getting the wood/leather steering wheel, and would really like to find some of the wood door cappings that I've seen on some of the European Saabs. When I first got the car, I had never had a car with wood in it and thought I didn't like - I know it's not everyone's taste, but I do now!

if you like the wood now, go to www.stateofnine.com (http://www.stateofnine.com) :cheesy:

They have western burlwood that is an exact oem match. If you call, you can custom order just the pieces you want, instead of a full kit
