Suspension mods

Apart from modifying the through the usual suspects (springs, shocks, bushes etc), are there any other mods that can be done?
The reason I ask is that the shims on the upper control arms of my t16 are knackered (will be replaced shortly). I contacted the local Saab dealership & was told they came in 3 sizes, & could be fitted to custom spec. Knowing bu&&er all about it, does anyone have any further info?
Also I understand that the camber can be adjusted aswell?

I've seen pictures on these forums of modified ball joints. The part that slides into the control arms was cut to make it thinner.

Someone help me out here.
