After driving other manual cars with equal or more miles, it seems like the motor mounts in my viggen are a bit soft. Is this just because the viggen is a torque powerhouse or are saab's mounts just plain soft? any mods for a smoother ride?

smoother ride comes with taller tires , speedometer goes out though, also look at tires with lower speed ratings but not so low that your 140mph top exceeds limit.. tirerack rates ride of similar rubber.. perhaps the adj Konis on soft MIGHT do the trick, after my experience with 9000s and firmer neoprene mounts, engine noise transfer increases,, but sure holds engine /trans inplace nicely..being the B235R is a smooth engine it might not be as noticable,, I sure found shifter would not rock and roll as much from pwr on to pwr off,,

I should have rephrased...its not the ride quality but the power on/off rocking that you described that I would like to firm up....is there any way to apply neoprene mounts in a 9-3?

If you're feeling it in the shifter you may want to look into the sport trans mount offered by genuinesaab.com There is also the idea of a top-mount engine mount. This idea has arguably been yet to be refined, but there is lots of talk about it on these boards.
i feel the same thing, i went from having soild mounts in my last car, to driving a 2002, and i know EXCACTLY what your talking about and its definitly motor mounts! These cars are great but when it comes to the handling ive got some issues with whoever thought it was ok to have such nasty torque steer, and such soft mounts.
