Hello!
I just bought a 1995 900 non turbo, 5 sp 90k and it is stock. I would like to buy a cat back type system and I am going to fab a cold air intake myself. I am a prototype machinist by trade.
I would like to get some extra hp and any info from DIY people out there would be greatly appreciated. thanks, David

The best thing to do is find a Saab Reclycler, for instance Goldwing in Parish/Hastings NY. They are within a 50 minute drive of me. I picked up the SaabSport exhaust for my 95 900SE turbo from them. Dirt cheap. The unit or any other units would work for your car. Just free up the intake, and it should help out. Any thoughts on N2O?

The only downside to installing a Saab Sport Exhaust on your car is it would be very loud, because it eliminates the center muffler. The Sport Exhaust relies on the turbo itself to quiet the exhaust, and without that, you'll get a lot of noise. One person I know, who installed the Sport Exhaust, had an exhaust shop weld a mid-muffler onto the straight center pipe, just like the original exhaust has. Your other option would be to leave the center pipe and just replace the rear muffler with something like the Viggen exhaust. Turners Hill Saab in England will sell you just that part. Apparently it's been discontinued in the US.

What about installing the turbo muffler. Would it sound any better than the stock muffler? Is the tail pipe any wider on the turbo muffler than on the 900s muffler?
