bought a new to me - 1988 9000s 2.0 liter standard trans Saab
this is my first saab. I am pretty good with a wrench but am clueless on where to start....
some days she drives perfect then on others she sputters at any attempt to give her some gas. when she acts up it sometimes quits briefly and everything seems normal for a few minutes only to start sputtering again.
I'm open for any suggestions and thanks for the help

Hi Steve,

Sounds like it could be electrical. Check that non of the wiring is loos or worn, I don't know what type of ignition is on a '88 9Ks but check all the leads and spark plugs. I the same problem on my wife's Citreon ZX and it was the lead going to the throtle position sensor.

Have you given it a service? If not give it a treat with some new oil, filters and spark plugs. It may then be happer and stop spluttering, yea never know...
