Im not very experienced with Saab engines but Im looking to get more out of mine(9-3 Turbo). I was looking around some auto stores and I saw a turbo boost controller. It says it would reduce turbo lag as well as increase pounds of turbo. Would this upgrade be worth the money? Also, would it be easy to install? And would it effect my warranty?
Again Im very new to engines, and need all the help I can get. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Let me sum up the 1000 posts that have been made on this topic. No one has gotted a MBC to work with the T8 engine and most say that the computer does a good enough job without it. If you want to read all about it do a search on the term MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER and you will find a ton if information.

The Trionic 8 engine managment system does not like many mods that work on more conventional turbo engines.

The discussions on the MBC are referenced in the FAQ, although the links probably don't work yet. This was a hot topic about a year ago.

For some insight, check the recent threads on blow-off valves. Some people seem to be getting these to work, but most are having problems.

The main indication of trouble with both MBC's and BOV's is the illumination of the Check Engine Light (CEL). It's important to remember that the CEL doesn't necessarily light up at the first sign of trouble. The computer may be able to compensate for the unwanted condition caused by the mod before it ever throws a CEL. Unfortunately, this compensation usually results in a net loss of power. This may be difficult to detect, particularly when you are excited about your new gadget and are biased to think it has made things better.

The Trionic 8 system would probably think something was wrong with the turbo system every time you turned the boost up and it would cut the fuel and air accordingly.

Then you'll be stuck on the highway trying to remove a red hot metal boost controller from the engine bay so that you can be on your way. It won't just throw a CEL it will be in a serious limp mode, you will see almost no boost...def., not fun.
