Alright, I was thinking the other day, about how SAAB and Porsche, two car companies with very dedicated fan bases, have made SUV's. And they say it's because they need the money. And they do, because a lot of people autocross their SAABs or Porsche's, right? And if they do that, they generally don't want to drive their autocross car around, it's too stiff for that. So they'd get a truck to tow the car in. So what better to tow a Porsche or a SAAB, than a Porsche or a SAAB!? *nods head* In addition to people who need a 4-door Porsche, or a SAAB on stilts buying the cars, now they (the companies) are keeping Porsche and SAAB buyers from spending their money on a Chevy, or BMW, or Dodge to pull their beloved car in. Now, they can tow and trailer their Porsche or SAAB behind a Porsche or SAAB.
Makes complete sense to me.
Hmmm.kinda a small market, don't you think??

You would think that, but considering the Cayenne was half of Porsche's sales last year, it's not such a small market. Saab only wants to sell 10-12,000 9-7Xs per year, which would make it the #2 seller if sales reach targets. It doesn't seem like an out-of-reach goal.

What's Saab's #1 seller, the 9-3 or 9-5? That's probably a dumb question, but I honestly don't know the answer.

Last month, Saab sold 2,258 9-3s, 473 9-5s, and 430 9-2Xs.

Wow, I didn't realize the sales were that slow.

Ouch...talk about a boutique business..I'm surprised that so few 9-5s as compared to 9-3s were sold, but it is getting to be a pretty ancient product I guess.
