Does no one else own a 9000? Maybe they're just too reliable.

I thought about buying a Saab 9000 a while ago but decided against it when I found out that the quality is not as good as the 900`s.
According to various websites I found about 9000`s big things tend to go at about 100k, which seems low for a Saab, both 900's that I have had have done over 200k with no major problems.
Also (imo) the 900 has more style than other cars whereas the 9000....

My 9000 was the first Saab I bought about 6 years ago. It let me down for the first time ever about 2 months ago when the fuel pump packed up. I now also own a 900 T16S which I have always wanted. I agree with the styling issue, but I must say that my F reg (88) 9000 feels more refined albeit slower to drive than my 900.
Considering they are both made by the same manufacturer with the same engine, they are very different beasts. I wouldn't part with either of them.

lots of people have them and they have there problems but they are all on another bulletion board as 9000 owners are unlikely to visit a 900 site maybe?

saab 9000 is all round better car,900 in 16s guise is better looking car/most unique looking in these days of mass cloning.i have owned 900 ...9000 over last 12 y.r.s. and i have to say 9000 is better to drive, roomier, less rattly, more reliable.....present 9000s/174000 mls, sold previous 9000 with 200,000...... but i still want 900t16s it looks the biz.

first time I've been on this part of the site.
I had an 87 9k SE turbo and what a car
this was the car that turned me on to saabs
,leather, walnut and wow the climate control
I've now got a 87 900 convert turbo but miss the 9k, oh! that climate system.
had to scrap my 9k .
no one wanted it
because of the rust around sunroof and doors and dodgy paint it would have cost far more to do it up than I would have got for it
the old 9k(automatic being an SE) was smother,
faster, it went into red and off the clock a few times 145-150?,
and that 40-80 wumph, unbeleivable
14-25 mpg, mostly 14, was bad
and the turbo lag with the auto/turbo mix could be scary at times

the 9k wouldn't match my 900's cornering abilities but I think the differences between the two most expensive saabs of 87 are;
9000 inpresses from the inside
900 convert impresses from outside

9000's are rather bland and uninteresting, tend to rust and look scruffy. I can see why people call saabs boring...

BUT, you can pick up a 9000Turbo16 for 300 for cheap thrills. Much easier than finding a similar C900

Our main car is a M94 CS Aero, which we bought nearly two years, before we started a family. It came with 113k, a 3cyl engine, and as Aero's are, FULLY LOADED. Replaced the engine with a factory short motor, and it's now just turned 132k.

What an all-rounder! I can't see why it could be labelled bland and un-interesting? In Le-Mans blue, it looks the dog's whatsits, It goes like the wind, Its comfortable, you can get the kitchen sink in it, and its safe for the missus and kid!

Such excellent VFM I chose it over classic and GM900s.

Had to reply to this thread as someone said the 9000 was boring.

True, early 9000i's don't exactly stir the soul, but the later Carlsson's, CS Carlsson's and Aero's certainly look the part (IMHO).

I do like the look of the 3 door 900's especially T16s's. Though you can quite often scare the poo out of the unsuspecting in these 9000's.

My Carlsson isn't exactly glued to the corners, but the acceleration and mid-range is excellent. Doesn't look too bad either. (Pic at "" under photos / 9000 / kevinmc, though you'd have to join the group to see)

It's true about the Bulletin board too, I'd known about the saab-900 site for some time though hadn't known there was a 9000 board on here. I've been using another 9000 board. Now I've found this one, I'll keep an eye on this too.

PS. I was looking for a 900T16s, but they are so few and far between, I ended up getting a 9000 Carlsson

i have had an 8v classic 900, a turbo 16 900, and now have a turbo16 9000. i like the intirior of the 9000, but somthing always tells me when i get out, that it isnt the right car. the 900 stays with me. the 9000 is a funish car, but i cannot even compare it to a 900 t16.

I had the same problem when I was looking for my most recent Saab. I really wanted a 900T16s, but there just weren't any good ones about.

I ended up test driving lots of 9000's as there were plenty around. Most of the cars did not leave much of an impression on me - this car had to have something about it, as I was looking for a "fun" car.

I went for the Carlsson in the end as it had all of the space and the comfort, looks good from the outside, and goes like stink!

I've just bought an old 9000XSi.

I'll let you know what I think of it as soon as I've had a good play.

Get a picture (with the Scooby) onto the gallery!

How many miles has the 9000 done?

My old 9000 XS was a 1991 - gorgeous car with spoked alloys, air con, walnut. Perfect sort of car for the big miles.

Hey, it's not J101PVC is it? (My old one)

ok alot of people dont give saabs any respect especially those honda tuners out there so I had to shut one up. I'm running a 9000s M92 and some guy on the high way was driving a honda accord 93 he started passing me and I decided to keep up with him until he noticed. Once he noticed me he started speeding up i down shifted to 4th gear and blew by him. All I want to know is why do people give saabs so much disrespect. They're reliable they last if you take good care of them even if you dont take good care of them they still last the just end up have little problems that you can fix yourself. All I have to do is fixmy fuel problem and thats it(fuel pump and filter nothing big) Saabs are my favorite car my father drove a 900 back in the day the only problem with it was it had no revers but my dad decided to junk it and got a mitsubishi so before you start disrespecting the saabs driv one first and then make judgements

and you resurrected a 4 year old thread because of what exactly?
Have you been away?
