I need some help here. Anyone with a 2.3T motor, where does your temperature gauge ride normally? My gauge typically rides 2-3 mm into the white, and when idling in traffic, never more than 1/2 wau up the white. This seems quite cool to me. I'm not complaining, as cool is better than hot. I get plenty of heat though HVAC, I'm just curious. Perhaps the previous owner installed a lower range thermostat?

This appears normal for later 9000s. My '96 Aero reads about the same, and I believe 9000s after '93 or '94 have a "nanny gauge", that tells you everything is normal unless there is something to worry about. This is supposed to stop people worrying unnecessarily about the gauge going up and down. However, people who know a little about cars actually get worried about this behaviour, because it doesn't seem normal.

If it's of any help, my temperature gauge didn't budge at all during a rolling road session today, even when the engine spent a good few seconds producing 300bhp and turning the wheels at an indicated 150mph (indicated on the rolling road, not the speedo, which only goes up to 140). The temperature needle on a J-reg 9000 on the same session moved up to within a few mm of the red quite early on, then stabilised there.

[Edit] Oops :oops: . I think you're in the US. "J-reg" in the UK is the term for the licence plate that covered late '91 and early '92 cars.
