There's been an article in Autoweek today regarding potential sludge problems with the engines fitted between 1999-2003. The report indicates around 430,000 vehicles worldwide could be affected. As a result Saab is extending it's warranty to 8 years (up from 4) on these vehicles.

There's no press release from Saab itself as I write, but it may be worth consulting your local dealer if you have one of the vehicles listed.

Saab made a press release one month ago aprox. The problem is well know, it is about the oil crankcase ventilation system that had some problems and during the life of the model recieved some redesigns. The problem only appears in very cool climates, because the oil has no time to take the adecuate temperature.
