wolverinewizard 07-02-05, 03:52 PM woo hoo! a saab roadster? hopefully it'll be as attractive as the sky. I get excited just thinking about it :cheesy:
apzer09 07-02-05, 06:19 PM They've been talking about a new Sonnet for a while after the Solstice was announced because they could use the Kappa platform. Something tells me Saab doesn't want to use RWD and I don't think Kappa takes AWD.

The second picture of the three cars... the car on the left, I think, could be a good basis for a new sonett
AnF_Saab 07-02-05, 11:27 PM GM's being careful with the new Kappa's and keeping production low until they find out what the demand will be like (40k a year for both). Think it would make a good business case for world wide sale, unlike the pure american market 9-7 and 9-2.
Here's my stab at the Sonnett ;)

apzer09 07-02-05, 11:53 PM Actually that's a pretty darn good photoshop!!!
And if GM's badge engineering rampage keeps up that's what it could look like. But even then, it's sleek and strangely, very Swedish. Squint hard and you can see some of those Sonnet III lines. :cheesy:
SaabKen 08-02-05, 01:38 AM Great PS work AnF_Saab ! You could be the next Michael Mauer !
Puhleeez folks, it's SONETT, SONETT, SONETT, SONETT :o
squishmann 08-02-05, 08:55 AM i want a 9-X

RallySaab=68= 08-02-05, 05:27 PM I wish Saab would take a risk on something new and exciting.
apzer09 08-02-05, 06:34 PM more like, GM should let Saab take a risk on something...
It would be just a re-badge. Saab needs better than this kappa scrap parts idea.
Saab needs to have really fast car, not open top beach boulevard toy.
That ofcourse would be very expensive and ambitious project even if they used GM platform. They would need a partner to boost production volume.

I don't know, a bit of Saab re-engineering and with a suitable interior and a Hirsch spec 305hp B235R installed in the back would make it fairly fast....

I find it interesting that in the EV-1 unveiled in 1985 Saab was able to wring 285hp out of the humble B202 motor. Now they have to get a GM 2.8L V6 to even get 250hp ;oops:
You should get hugely more out of that V6 and I'm sure tuning companies will prove it.
Secondly emission regulations are totally different, also weight and fuel usage, comparison is not that straight forward.
