I've just purchased a 98 Saab 9-5SE 2.3lpt, and am loving it so far. Can anyone please tell me if there are any issues I should be aware of with this particular year and model Saab. I've noticed the SID display has missing pixels, and it's really bothering me. Is this display required for anything other than the trip computer, I'm not sure if I should spend the money to replace, It's quite an expensive item.

Regards,
Mann

Hi,

And Welcome!

The SID also displays radio station, temp, and various warning messages, its a very common problem to have pixels missing!

If your into that sort of thing you can repair it, I'll have to dig the link out, otherwise its a replacement!

Only other thing to keep an eye out for is blue smoke, mainly on startup, caused by breather problems related to the turbo!

Thanks,
I'm interested in attempting to repair the SID, could you please let me know the link.
No blue smoke detected thankfully, at least not that I know off.
However I've been left stranded a couple of times due to a flat battery, which I've since replaced, but I'm now getting a brake light failure message, at least I think that's what the SID is telling me, as I can't read it very well.
Also The drivers seat heater does not work, and the airconditioner automatically comes on every time you start the engine. Is this normal.
