what kind of gas mileage should i be getting for my 1995 900s stick with a KN filter? i am getting only 16, is this really really bad?
16mpg is very low indeed, even if if your driving style is 'spirited'.
There's another thread going withthis same topic and people are generally getting around 28-30 in everyday driving, dropping to mid 20's with heavy urban/enthusiastic motoring. I can even get 40 on a run if I stick religiously to 70mph (97 900s NA)....
Might be time for a tune-up

With my stage 3 ECU I still get as high as 32 MPG when I cruse at ~60 mph. Although I have seen it as low as 12 mpg when I take many short trips around town. You should average ~24 mpg. How many miles on your Saab? Your front O2 sensor could be malfunctioning, they usually last ~100,000 miles. I replaced mine at 80,000 miles and noticed a gas mileage increased and a performance increase. I also recommend that you put Techron Concentrate in you gas tank once or twice a year to clean the fuel injectors. Also check the plug gap, I keep mine at 0.9mm (.035 inches), maybe its time for new plugs too. Also check tire pressure.

HA! On the way to school and back i have noticed a drop form 21mpg when i bought the car to 11.8 most recently, Im hardly on the freeway and I would have to say my driving style is a notch above spirited.
