Hello,
I have read a lot about this mod and I was wondering which brand did you buy? How much did it cost? Would you recommend it? Was is easy to install? Was the documentation in order? Was customer service good?
I have looked at a couple different places from various links that I have found here in different topics, but I still don't know which is best one to get.. and of course, for which purpose.
It may be helpful for others Saab drivers who are looking for the same info as I am to have it listed here as an easy source of reference.
Thanks,
SaabDrvr

there are no brands of this mod... spatl makes them himself use the search function to find this stuff
There are lots of MBC's out there and a lot of posts about them as well. I have tested many and have found some that work great and some that really stink. I have tried different styles of MBC's as well. there are 2 main styles with a slightly different bent on the bleed style MBC using an airp pressure regulator to control boost as well. Still two styles but a typical bleed style MBC is most like a needle valve where as an air pressure regulator used as a MBC is a diaphragm that regulates air pressure up to a set value. The bleed style MBC's are the original MBC's on the market. Then ball and spring MBC's were discovered and found to have much improved results for getting on boost faster than the bleed style MBC's. But the drawback is that they tend to overshoot their boost target in the colder temperatures. That was where the +a was born to deal with the boost overshoots when the temps outside got colder. What would typically happen this time of year is that those running MBC's would have to turn down their MBC to compensate for the increase of boost in a t-5 speed density system. Anyway, there is a lot of information out there on this.
Look around at MBC's, Hallman, TurboXS and Turbosmart are three big names in the MBC arena. They are also the most excpensive of the bunch. Dawes Device is a good one as well and much cheaper. But the outlet barb on it is too small for our stock hoses so fitment is a little troublesome.
If you search eBay and other places, you'll see many variations. Some are good, some are pretty and some not so pretty. Pretty doesn't mean better, but typically more $.
IMO The Ball and spring MBC is far superior to the bleed syle MBC so I would limit the search to ball and spring MBC's.
