Welcome to Saabcentral, I Googled the model to find out more about the Saab Lancia 600gls, it's a Delta 8) great little cars. I don't think many of us on here know much about them, you are going to attempt a restoration? good for you.

Hey don't knock the "Delta HF Integrale" I drove one of those a few years back - LHD, AWD 2 litre (+?) Turbo.

Acceleration and grip like a Scooby about 5yrs before its time. I think the usual italian foibles like dodgy electrics and thin steel finally canned them. IIRC they were very successful rally cars in early '90s? 8) 8)

What was "SAAB" about them, again? Was it going to be a shared platform, or were Lancia using the SAAB badge to hide the car from the public during road testing ... like the Daihatsu SAAB 99?

This page (http://www.fintoys.com/Saab_Lancia_all.htm) has some nice toys ... and this page (http://jpowell.tripod.com/saab-rarities/) shows off a load of SAAB rarities & oddities.

I really like the Lancia Delta - it has that classic boxy '80s shape, like the Scirocco or the Audi Coupe. Nice car, mate :! Keep us all up-to-date with the re-build ... oh, and keep those SAAB badges on :cheesy:

Ah...the Lancia HF Integrale...I understand there are fewer than 10 in the United States, my friends father has two of them. He has the 8v and 16v models, both in New York. Both are black also and has the WRC champion stickers on the rear window. I think both are 88 year models. What a blast to drive, it has the OMP steering wheel and chrome shifter knob. They were from Italy, and both still have the Italian plates. One is registered and the other is driven with transporter plates. What I love is hearing the turbo spool up what a thrill...When I get some picture I'll post them

When Saab signed up to the type 4 project (9000, Lancia Thema, Fiat Croma, Alfa 164) part of the agreement was that Saab must help Lancia break into the Swedish market. I believe that the model sold as the Saab-Lancia 600GLS was the equivalent to the highest spec non-sports Lancia Delta of the day

Darn right don't knock those babies. Just before the demise of Group B Rallying (killed by escalating spectator and participant deaths attributed to too much hp) Fiat/Lancia ralleyed the Delta Integrale S4 which made approx. 400 bhp from the 1995 cc DOHC inline 4. (Homologation requirements resulted in production of 500 units for sale). They as well built a couple of test mules on the platform for the anticipated Group A (which did not come about) that made 600 bhp from the same powerplant (it was supercharged and turbocharged, 16 valve cross-flow head, etc.). That is 300 hp per liter of displacement, designed for grueling rally racing. (If your Saab is a two liter and makes 250 hp, that is "merely" 125 hp per liter).
From the Aurelia B20 in the late fifties (called by some the first true Gran Turismo) to the Stratos in the mid to late seventies and other somewhat lesser known/successful models, Lancia racked up many impressive wins in multiple types of races, but most notably in rallying.
Many of their cars (prior to the purchase by Fiat) had wildly complex narrow angle V configurations (some designed by Vittorio Jano, previously of Ferrari) and some were piloted by some pretty well known fellows (such as Juan Manuel Fangio).
Sorry, but those of us who are blessed and cursed as former Lancia pilots cannot help but wax nostalgic at times.
OH, & welcome to the FORUM.

Well the Scooby-Saab should be out next year.

From what I gather it is a straight WRX with a Saab modified body
