I think I might paint the engine cover, battery cover and coolant bottle covers too, cant decide, silver or cosmic blue, any thoughts? :cheesy:

That logo is a bit outdated. :nono;

Looks cool! I'd go with the blue. The silver will just blend in with everything.

I'll second that.
Blue is much nicer to look at and it won't show up the dirt as much, not that you'll allow your engine to get dirty
Are you gonna wip off the rocker cover and the DI aswell and give them a lick while you're at it?

That logo is a bit outdated.

In line for the MY98 model.

How about some air horns that play La Cucaracha Chris?

I never thought of airhorns :cheesy:

The badge was the one removed from the bonnet when it was resprayed, and I couldnt part with it as its one of the few original bits of the car left

I was thinking Blue too, I'll start with the engine cover and post some pics to see what you think, thanks Guys 8)

Actually I cant believe I neglected tyhe engine bay this long, on previous cars I have polished and painted so many areas. One mechanic tried to grab the front panel as he climbed up out of the pit and fell back down muttering "Why did he bl**dy wax that bit" :cheesy:

You do not need to paint it just put an extra fan or two to keep the engine as cool as the rest of the car :cheesy: or how about a good light so when you get pulled over you can say "it is a standard engine" officer

Good morning Mr Hirsch have you picked up your boggo standard 2.0lpt yet? Chris and myself wanted to put a spy cam in the cockpit for your reaction when you drove it after the de-modification. :cheesy:

Mr Hirsch collected boggo Saab today, and he still has a Stage 4 right foot, he lost me in the M1 traffic in no time! :o

It was great to spend the day with a fellow enthusiast and Wess at Nottingham Saab came up trumps again with steaming hot coffee ready upon our arrival! :)

Saab.........it's a community thing

Mornin Kermit

Just been out there in the daylight and sure it looks fine, but it always did for the first week or so then the tiny micro blisters appear

This time it was a bare metal respray, before it was flatten and blow over, so he's run out of options but told me to return if there were any problems............like I needed to be told that!

As usual a couple of trim clips are broken, things like that really annoy me

Sills look great though, he removed them and did them properly and it only cost me a drink

Blimey, pass the shades Chris. 8) That is indeed blingcity, not too sure about the Speedparts motifs, but definately like the cowling above the engine. I've got plans for a carbon battery cover with Saab emblem on it (if the suppliers pull through). Watch this space......

The speedparts badges aren't fixed on cos i'm not sure either

The battery cover is the worst bit (paint wise), I'd love a carbon one if you find them at a reasonable price 8)

Hey Chris that looks great. Did you powder coat the parts or is that just high temp paint. Also about what's the cost/part.

Hey Chris that looks great. Did you powder coat the parts or is that just high temp paint. Also about what's the cost/part.

1. I bought one 400ml can of standard plastic filler primer from a local auto store and two packs of Saab paint (2 paint 250ml + 2 lacquer 250 ml)

2. Thouroughly degreased the plastics (in the sink, she was impressed)

3. Two coats of primer, then flattened slightly with wet & dry fine paper.

4. Four coats of factory paint from www.partsforsaabs.com it comes as a twin pack with the lacquer.
I figure it should cope with temp etc as the paint is still on the inner wings and the suspension struts from the day she was born!

5. Flatten the final coat, then four coats of lacquer.

However:

There was only just enough paint (2 cans), its a bit thin on the battery cover

Total cost well under 30 GBP, whats that about $55 ish?

I just think it would cost a lot to have the motor mount removed, or maybe you did it yourself?

That one is really easy, you need to jack up the engine, but its the one they remove to get at the ancilliary belt and all those lovely "silent" pulleys
