Hi, this is my first actual post here but I've been browsing as a guest for a long time. I am about to try to preform a custom turbo installation on my 1995 Saab 2.3L 900 (non turbo). I consider this (http://www.partsforsaabs.com/product_info.php?cPath=105_248_257&products_id=1431) as an a good option as the turbo. This (http://www.genuinesaab.com/detail.asp?product_id=ic-kit) seems like a good intercooler for my car. I am guess I will need to find custom exhaust headers and a new exhaust system (http://www.genuinesaab.com/detail.asp?product_id=JT62K). Has anyone every done this before? Is this impossible? Does anyone have any advice, especially with the headers and the aspect of the compression ratio (I'm positive I'll have to run high octane gas). The car has around 96k miles on it, and the only problem with it is I have bent reverse linkage in the transmission. I love my Saab but I want it to have some more punch, and I feel left out of all this other turbo action. I got the idea from a friend who has a Toyota Celica, and put a custom turbo in it following the path of the Celica All-Trac (Toyota's old rally car series). I'm just wondering if anyone has replaced turbos in their own cars, done this before or can give me a idea of what to do so I can double check my own plans. Any advice, tips or experience would be greatly appreciated.

a few suggestions...... the turbo itself.... i would try to get teh viggen one, or even better just get a 9000 aero turbo those are your best bets... the intercooler u can get for like 165 on ebay but the piping would have to be sourced out.... u need an exhaust manifold from a turbo car too but i dunno if these would fit anyway...

u can call nick at genuine and he will help u out best he can, his prices are great and service is awesome too....

Thats really, really , really nice. Where did you get those headers? Thats the part I really need.

Thanks, yea getting the exhaust headers of manifold is the thing that I really need to do. I don't know Nick, does he post at these forums? Genuine is awesome, I wish they offered a turbo kit for 2.0 and 2.3 NAs with exhast headers, the new flex pipe, intercooler and a turbo.

Would it help in the least bit if I posted pictures? I have not started any work on it yet so I thought it would be redundant.

(I PMed you this but just incase you missed it)
I have to congratulate you on your excellent job. As you read before I have a 2.3L non-turbo and I am trying to preform exactly what you did.

So once i get my hands on all this stuff I'm guessing I'll need to

-Replace the exhaust headers with ones that work with the turbo
-Replace my the air take on the engine with the piping that leads to the intercooler
-Hook the intercooler to turbo and then add some kind of air intake to the turbo
-Replace the stock ECU
-Get a new downpipe or flexpipe or whole new exhaust system

Is that all? Any suggestions for parts? Do I need a direct ignition cassette like you have?
