a friend of mine has a NG 900 with a toasted engine (ran the oil dry), not that I need another project, but would my spare 2.3T from a 1991 9000T fit the NG 900's drive train? I have heard of plenty of cases where people have swapped a 2.3T for their 2.0T in a NG 900, but I know that the 2.3T block comes in a few different castings. Does anyone know which casting it is that mates up with the NG 900's trans and engine mounts?

very easy, but I think you need a 1993 and up 9000 block. I was going to do this swap too but chickened out and just rebuilt my 2.0. All you need to do is swap the timing cover, the oil pan to fit the later 2.3's into a NG900. Obviously you retain all stock manifolds and accesories. It all bolts up. The 2.0 ECU will adapt to a stock 2.3 but if you have mods you need new software.
Physically, the block on the 2.0 and the later 9K 2.3's is identical, the difference is in the crank.
The '93 block won't fit, you will need the '94 and up "shortblock' engine.
