View Full Version : Headlights Always On?
Just picked up a new 9-5 and I have a question.....
The headlights (and tail lights) are always on. No matter where I have the light switch control (Daytime running, parking, or headlights) it is the same. Always on.
Is this normal??
Thanks. :-?
Hi,
Cars in Finland and Sweden (the homecountry of SAAB) are required to use headlights while driving no matter what time of the day it is or where you are driving (urban/country area), so it's probably the nice engineers at Saab Automotive that have saved all Scandinavian 9-5 owners of the possibility to get fined from driving without headlights on  So I guess it's normal...

You've got DRL's enabled!
Unless its a legal requirement in your part of the woods, you can disable them by pulling fuse 35
This is detailed in your handbook somewhere..
You may also need to get the dealer to alter the way the light switch acts using tech 2, I believe over in the USA you get a 30 day check where you can get things programmed for free?
Tech 2 lighting options below:
Daylight Driving Lights
Alternative 1: Fuse 35 removed. Light switch in position 1 or 2 will result in no lights at all. Switch in position 3 gives dipped beam.
Alternative 2: Light switch in position 1 gives dipped beam and in position 2 no lights at all. Switch in position 3 gives dipped beam.
Alternative 3: Dipped beam in all positions.
Alternative 1: All markets except SE and CA.
Alternative 2: SE
Alternative 3: CA
Fog Light Variant
The extra front-mounted fog lights can be controlled in 3 ways.
Alternative 1: The fog lights can be turned on if the light switch is in position 1 or 2, independent of whether the headlamps are on.
Alternative 2: Fog lights cannot be turned on when headlamps are on and the light switch is in position 1 or 2.
Alternative 3: Fog lights activated together with main beam when light switch is in position 2 or if light switch is in position 1 (no headlamps).
Alternative 1: All markets except US and CA.
Alternative 2: US/CA
Alternative 3: -
Thank you both for the information. It is great to have a site like this to help with these issues.
Thanks again.
