I know that the topic of air filters has been beaten like the proverbial dead horse, but I feel the need to ask again, as I have come across some information I'm not sure about.

I am looking to get a performance airfilter to go with my BSR Stage 1 upgrade.

In the past I have been recommended to use ITG foam air filters with my 9-5 Aero. I have - however - heard some nighmare stories about wrecking ones airflow sensors with ITG filters, and I am sortof inclined to stay away from them for that reason. (Well that and they seem to be hard to find here in the U.S.)

I suspect that BSR sells their stage 1 kit with a JR Airfilter, but when I ordered my BSR PPC it didnt come with an airfilter as they do in Sweden.

I have looked around for a JR airfilter in the U.S. but they too are hard to find.

Every neighborhood parts store seems to have K&N filters though. Could these be used instead? is there any reason not to use a K&N filter?

Speaking of other stuff you have and I am interested in (even though it isn't really relevant to this thread) those neat oval tipped offical Saab sports exhausts you sell for 9-5's...

Can you comment at all on the sound of them? I am very tempted to get one but I am also quite the fan of refined sounding cars... (I don't want to make my car sound like one of those airplane wing equipped hondas...)

The factory Remus is an interesting system. Unlike the Remus muffler sold in europe the US kit has a special straight through center pipe in addition to the rear muffler. They have a nice sound more rumbly at idle but not loud at all. Still sounds like a $40K car. Give me a call if you want.

Nick brought an interesting point about Remus availability. The United States seems to be the only place where it comes with a straight pipe. I checked with my local Saab dealer, and they quite puzzled by the findings. If you order it from GM Canada, you only get a rear muffler (like in Europe). However, the same part number gives you a complete cat-back system if purchased from a US supplier.
