Most interesting factoid, Saab only sold 50 9-2x Aeros in June.

But the official release date was July 1st, so those pre-July sales can't be used as a sales forecast IMO.

True. A lot of dealerships didn't even have the cars before then. Not saying that they couldn't sell without them, but it always helps, right? I have yet to see a dealership with one, in Charlotte or Vegas.

While the front end looks like a really bad Alfa, it does bear some resemblence to the old Sonetts - say, the Catherina :-?? <---- The front end, not the rest of it ... ugh!

I've read somewhere that something like 1/3 of all WRX sales are wagons, though this doesn't include the STi I'm pretty sure.

Not surprising...the thing is so dam ugly. I've said it all along, and I will say it again - these things will barely sell and it's only a matter of time before Saab pulls the plug.

My guess is this joint venture is so Saab can learn how to build a superior AWD vehicle...

Ok thecarconnection.com's quote of 50 AEROs in the first month is simply not accurate. They quoted that "only 50 Aeros had been sold in June." Well the official release date for the car was July 1, so of course they can't sell that many off the lots, there are hardly any out there to begin with!

While I agree sales will probably be pretty low, I think it's the pricing that will be a killer. As practically every auto rag has already commented, it should be priced $2k, maybe $3k more than it's Subaru counterpart. The Base price for the Linear is $4k more than the base price of the Impreza 2.5 RS and while the Aero is only just under $3k more than the WRX once you add the "premium" package, which includes leather seating & Xenon headlamps (both of which should be standard in this segment) the price climbs close to $28k.

Edit: as far as how the car looks, of course that's going to be subjective. I suspect that if you like the traditional Saab looks you won't like it. Personally I don't like the looks of Saabs in general, nor do I like the looks of the WRX, though the Saabaru looks REALLY attractive to me. :-?
