View Full Version : 9-5 power output's
Can someone enlighten me to the different model 9-5 power outputs e.g. normally aspirated, LPT, full turbo and anything else.
Thanks - Simon.
Simon, the entire 9-5 model line up is turbocharged.

-accelaration: 0-100km/h 9.8sec
2.3t (low pressure) ecopower:
-power: 185hp
-top speed 230km/h (225 aut)
-acceleration: 0-100km/h 8.3sec (9.5 aut)
3.0 V6 (low pressure) ecopower:
-power 200hp
-top speed 235 km/h (automatic only)
-acceleration: 0-100km/h 8.9 sec
2.3T (High output=AERO) ecopower:
-power 250hp (max 20 second overboost on full throttle(manual only) -> 275hp, torque from 350Nm->370Nm)
-top speed 250 km/h
-acceleration: 0-100km/h 6.9sec (8.2s aut.)
3.0 V6TiD (diesel, low pressure):
-power: 176hp
-top speed 215km/h

I drove a 95 V6 Diesel to Newcastle and back a few weeks ago and was well impressed. It had more torque than anything else I've ever been in (by a BIG margin). Superb motorway car. Immense pick-up in top gear....
I guess that this means that the engine (and management/some other electronics) in my 9000 is still produced, is the gearbox the same also?
Cheers
Ken
I red an article from a Finnish car mag about Saab 9-5 V6 TiD (BTW, the engine is basically made by an other GM company, Suzuki, and Saab has only added the turbo and some other "tweaks"), and yes, they were also praising it's highway performance and torque capabilities. But they were amazed by the lack of power in low rpm's (=turbo lag), which resulted to relatively tricky starts from full stop. They also mentioned, that Saab had to reprogram the engine management when they noticed this, because the car was even more keen to stall on starts if the clutch/gas pedals weren't managed extremely cautiously. The article said, that it's quite strange, that there isn't an automatic transmission availabe (these getting the car moving problems would be solved...), and blamed the oversized turbocharger for these ill characteristics with low rpm's. BTW, Saab was left to last position in this comparision made in the article (It was among bigger turbodiesel cars, if I remeber correctly: Mercedes C200(or some bl**dy C-series anyway) CDI, Audi A4(or A6) TDi and Volvo S60 D5)...

The V6 TiD is not a Suzuki lump!
Its Isuzu..... close!
Yes! Thanks for setting me straight! Isuzu it is, my bad...but damn, all those Japanese looks the same to me (no offence, if someone from an Oriental origin is reading this)!

They never bothered making a naturally aspirated one did they? Or am I being silly?
An Isuzu lump?
It doesn't have the same appeal when you say it like that....
