I seem to have a serious driving problem.... or addiction. I liked cars since I was little and I raced a quarter midget for 4 years. Then my first car was an 88 Saab 900s. I learned how to drive nicely but one day when I was driving alone and I opened it up and the thing handled beautifuly but was only mildly powerful. So I pretty much went WOT most of the time... Eventully I messed up my engine by trying to modify it with no knowledge and then pushing the hell out of it. It handled the abuse well but the last straw was when I tweaked the timing. Now its been sitting in the driveway for a month while I slowly repair it. Meanwhile I drive my dads 89 Ford F150 shortbed (w/ performance cam, pirelli scorpion tires, sporty suspension, shortbed, poor brakes) to work. I don't drive it at top speed but every now and then I get the urge to gun it when I see green or get the chance to blow some ricers (or some slowpokes) doors off. It has good power at the low end so I fly around slower corners hanging the back end out. I realize I have a serious addiction that I need to correct before I end up hurting myself or someone else. Although I am quite confident in my driving ability there is always a chance for a mistake, mechanical failure, someone elses error, or an unexpected event that forces a panic situation. I cannot and will not stop driving but I need help with controlling this urge. I am pretty calm, and patient normally but when Im driving im impatient and get spontaneous urges.
The only thing I found that helps is finding an empty lot and just letting loose... This was easy to do when it snowed but now its impossible and you have alot more explaining to do if your hanging it sideways on tarmac.
No accidents... no speeding tickets (usually don't speed on highways). Need help..........
Sorry for the long post
