On my 96 9000 Aero there is a rectangle instrument panel next to the gauges, it has like the time, and stuff on it. I was wondering if there is any way to make this brighter, because it next to impossible to read the time during the day. Thanks.
Are you aware of the 'dash dimming' roller switch on the dash. Don't know where it will be on a left hand drive car but it's standard square switch size with a large arrow pointing downwards, roll it up to brighten the dash, certainly the hour markings on mine brighten with it. Maybe the bulb has blown though?

Gooseguy,
The lighting intensity on the display unit to which you're referring is actually controlled by a light-sensing "eye". This "eye" looks like a small smooth plastic insert, and is located near the bottom of the unit. It could be the case that the "eye" has something blocking the the light from it; when the "eye" senses low light levels, it automatically dims the unit illumination. To set the "eye's" overall sensitivity level, you've got to take it to a SAAB dealer and let them plug in their magical "black box" (a computer control adjustment unit proprietary to SAAB dealers - never seen an independent workshop with one, personally). The dealer can adjust the "eye's" setting so that the illumination is brighter.
