: Heading to Switzerland for work. What to do?
hi guys. i am heading to Switzerland at the beginning of next month - Schaffhausen to be specific. What kind of cool stuff is there to do? the last time i went, a group of us got a car and drove to Neuschwanstein (sorry for spelling) Castle in Germany. and on Sunday, we went to Zurich.
Sbarro's museum, perhaps? It's in Pontarlier, France, near the Swiss border.

Mattlach 18-05-04, 12:56 PM Although I've never been in that particular area, I have heard that northeastern France in the Elsass/Lothringen (Alsace/Lorraine?, I apologize, my German is almost fluent, my french is at best half-assed...) areas are some of the nicest in Europe.
A combination of German efficiency and cleanliness with French wining and dining.
How could that be bad? :P
thanks for the suggestions guys. also keep in mind that a quick flight somewhere is not out of the question either. anything but Prague or England. i have already been to each a few times.
nestoraero 18-05-04, 04:16 PM Be carefull on the highways with the speed limit.
I received a ticket,9 months after the incident.
I was going 143 km/h instead of 120 km/h.....
Beside that,i's a beautifull country....enjoy... :D

Wow - to live in Switzerland!
Visit Poland before it is spoiled by the European Union - nice people, food how it used to taste....

Feeling brave? try camping in the Black Isle, just north of Inverness, I've stayed under canvas there, it is not an experience i'll forget.
Most important thing is try and get in on a Saabcentral meet, i'm sure you'll be made most welcome.
Willy Wonka 18-05-04, 09:05 PM I especially liked the Swiss airforce. Their planes seemed to come out of the mountains. I'd look and see a plane lifting from betwen two peaks. Nice banks too.

I had a great week walking around Interlaken which is in the Berner Oberland. It was in the Autumn between the summer tourists and the skiing season so it was quite quiet. The hotel at the top of the mountain in which they filmed On Her Majestys Secret Service is close by.
I was very hungover in Gstaad once...after drinking too much in Saanen (sp?).... on a highly dodgy work mission to collect a van full of Ferrari spares.
I think it was beautiful.... :-? :cheesy:

The drive from Switzerland to Italy via the Simplon Pass is suberb. Breathtaking scenery, tunnels and passes. Continue into Italy via the A26 and visit Lake Como. Beautiful town.
I stayed for some time in St Gallen, just south of Konstanz. Drove into mountains, Appenzelle (sp). Drank some fresh winter flower tea and visted some people in a very low ceiling house.
There was the most exellent wood fire/oven in the house. It was flush to the wall in the kitchen and was fueled by metre long wood. In the lounge was the body of the oven and was maybe 2X 1.5 Cu M Standing on ornate legs and clad with emerald green tiles. In the side was a little door you could look in to see whether things were cooking ok without having to go to the kitchen. The most beatiful wood oven design I've ever seen.
And the very next day the trouble started...........
excellent. thanks for all the ideas guys. i'll be sure to let you guys know where i go over that weekend that i am there. maybe take some digi pics to throw up here.
