: What material for lambda mount

I now have a JT 3-inch exhaust system, and I'm currently fitting it to my car.

I'm wondering what material should the Lambda-mounting nut be, if it's welded on the stainless steel downpipe front section.

Stainless steel or mild steel?

I really can't say specifically, but in more universal level, if a mount is under heavy temp. changes (like an exhaust pipe), it is recommendable that the mounted materials and the fixing(s) have (almost) identical thermal expansion properties (inequal properties might cause seriously high stress levels -> faster corrosion and/or cracks). So if the downpipe is stainless, so should the nut and the weld be, IMO, of course...
