: T16 4 door rare
Hi boys,
as some of you already know I have just found myself a "C" reg 1985 T16 4 door.......
or as the log book says 900 Turbo 4 DOHC 16 4 DOOR SALOON
its very nice in silver with red velour interior so 1980`s 8) 8) (no rust on the bodywork)
full electrics, windows, mirrors, sunroof, power steering, cruise control etc all working
bad points saggy headlining & no working heated seats thats all..
large history file from saab main dealer & "Classic 900 Ltd" in Hull serviced every 6 months etc
its had ££££££££ spent on it but its completely standard not tuned at all.....
now how many 4 door flat-fronted 900 Turbo 16v`s were imported into the UK
any ideas boys Paul

Just out of interest this place in Hull, is there an Address? Lived there for a couple of years and don't remember seeing a place like that.

Had already read it, was doing some research :)
And back on topic  what's your plan for it? Will the 8v take a back seat for a while? And are those driving lights original, like on a 99T?
T8 is still 8) 8) & daily driver
T16 might become a play thing
yes spot lamps are Saab ones like your 99T
nutcase 09-05-04, 04:50 PM Cool :)
DeLorean 09-05-04, 05:01 PM in the US at least, 4 door 16V-turbo cars are at least as common as 3 door models, if not more so. nice looking car!
kemosaabey 09-05-04, 06:42 PM Ahh, but we has the 5-doors! Until 91 or so..
I do quite like 4-doors though, a nice refined cruiser.
Oliver_u 10-05-04, 07:12 AM Lovely car!
IIRC 900 16V 4 door saloons were only sold in '85 and '89 in Europe. So it makes them as rare as hen's teeth. Also the four door saloon models were discontinued in the European market in 1989, with only the 3/5 door and convertible version going on to '93. Most saloon models are 8Vi's or 8V turbos.I don't think there are even a lot of 16V n/a's around. 3/5 door 16V's are far more readily available in both n/a and turbo versions than the four door ever was (in Erupe that is).
I know I'm sad. :cheesy:

Matthew 10-05-04, 09:05 AM Dude, I am so glad you bought that car. I had seen it on the SOC classifieds for several weeks and really liked the look of it. Fantastic that it's in the SaabCentral family 8) 8)
Can't wait to see it at one of the meets! :)

I will post more when I re-size them

Very nice find. Looks vaguely familiar.
Never seen a T16 sedan in my neck of the woods. Only a few T8's and lots of NA's.

I spotted a 4 door saloon on the way home last night in Coventry, it had the turbo badge on the bonnet side, a grey colour [delightful] it was parked outside the Gala bingo hall, probably ran by a wrinkley out for there weekly game  .
nutcase 11-05-04, 01:06 PM Sheesh, the colour name is silver!

we have a ton over here.... far from rare in the USA lol... I can see bout 5 alone in the classifieds listings here
kemosaabey 12-05-04, 02:16 PM Here's another one, a very early '84 model - a bit rough mind... Can't say I've seen many A reg 4-door 16's!
Still see a fair few 16v N/A's both 2 and 4-door and plenty of turbo 2-doors.

The early cars up to '83 had their leccy window switches either side of the cig lighter. They had the 99 style centre console, so no room there...
roof switch, is the only toggle switch all other switch gear are the same as post-face lift model, centre console is 900 not 99 item...extra switch is for spot lamps
Finally started work on the T16 today, drove it home yesterday...
its a bit slower than the T8 :cheesy: :cheesy:
all I & number 2 son have done so far is hoover the inside & give the outside a good wash........
now it looks 100% better, spent a bit of time unblocking the weep holes on the boot spoiler..
so now its not a birdbath
Paul
p.s. the wife likes it
Jezzadee 26-05-04, 03:37 PM Good stuff, looking forward to seeing it. Could you rig up an MBC to the 'extra' button, for that little extra something when overtaking?
:D
p.s. the wife likes it
:cheesy: ... no, I shouldn't :nono;
One thing I didn't ask - is it the 160 BHP or the 175 BHP?
Its the 175BHP model, APC under the back seat..........
Paul
Hi all ,
had the wheels off today to pressure wash the arches & look at brake disc/pads, springs/shocks etc
first thing I noticed is the wheels are not made by Ronal
they are made by FUNDO K3
The part numbers are different as well the Ronal wheels on my 1987 T8 look the same "Turbo sunburst"
these part numbers are 9100587
But the Fundo K3 wheels have a part number of 8987521
both wheels have a ET of 40
strange or what are the Fundo K3 the old name for Ronal II
any ideas Paul
As I haven`t been about, its my first chance to say nice motor :D
Glad you`ve finally seen the light and gone for the optional extra 8 valves :cheesy:

I thought you had the Incas on the T8 now :! Whatcha going to do with the old sunburst/teardrop alloys :-??
Hi Orca,
Yes the Incas are now on 8) 8) car looks a lot better...

about my old sunburst/teardrop why do you want then....
mmmmmmmiiiiight do  I still have "a certain thing" for those wheels, which were on my first 900. I'm trying to imaging them in power-coated white  8)
cool Cirrus White powder-coated alloys 8) 8)
Paul
cleaned all the intercooler pipes, throttle body,AAV,AMM & inside of airbox..
checked all vacuum pipes for spilts/tears etc all seem fine/tight..
adjusted the throttle damper 3/4 of a turn so now it does what it should do.....
cleaned the rotor arm ,Dizzy cap as they were old dirty
(but will replace with new items soon  )
put every thing back together started car all runs fine now..
had a little problem with the car stalling on idle...
idle is now solid at 850/900rpm...
I think it is right :-? :-?
only other problem is petrol gauge needle moves 3mm or so up/down when car is idling (not being driven)
is this common on T16`s or is it a dodgy connection/bad earth on the sender unit in the petrol tank......
Paul
