Got this over at NASIOC:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=546021

The 9-2X N/A version will start at $22,990 while the Aero model starts at $26,950, and that includes a nice list of standard options.

So much for the $30k+ predictions

It's a Subaru so i would hope it wouldn't be near 30K.

$22990 for the base non-turbo (+$4970 US over the equivalent base Subaru wagon)
$26950 for the turbo. (+$2830 US over the equivalent Subaru WRX wagon)

For us Canadians, that should roughly translate to...
$31000 for the base 9-2x (+$8000 estimate)
$39000 for the turbo 9-2x (+$4000 estimate)

That's a fairly big jump in price. You do get a few extras in the 9-2x that you don't get in the Subies (nicer interior and automatic climate control being the biggest changes) but nothing that calls for that kind of a price jump - especially in the base wagon.I know which one I'd pick if I didn't have a GM discount...

Let's not forget about free maintenance for 2 years and Saab's longer warranty.

Hell, the 17" wheels on the Aero are just about enough to justify the price increase. Look at Subaru's optional BBS wheels for the WRX... $$$$$$

I don't know about other countries but in the US, Saab usually sells cars at thousands below MSRP and I have no doubt that the practice will apply to the 9-2X too, so the price premium over the WRX may be not as high as you might think.

I mentioned this before, but if they throw in Aero academy (will they or won't they...??) hen it would actually be a pretty good deal. Esp. when Saab starts discounting them.

I wandered over and "built" a WRX, adding what I could to make the WRX comparable in options to an Aero. Guess what the price came to?

$26,234 USD. Sounds about right to me.

Ok, so here is what the US pricing was announced at for the 9-2x

$22990 Linear (non-turbo)
$26950 Aero (turbo)

And here is the US pricing for the 9-3:
$26425 Linear
$30485 Arc
$32685 Aero

Here is the Canadian pricing for the 9-3:
$34900 Linear
$40900 Arc
$43900 Aero

So the difference in price between US and Canada is:
32% Linear
34% Arc
34% Aero

So if we apply the same pricing formula to the 9-2x, the Canadian pricing should be:
1.32 x 22990 = $30400 Linear (probably bump it up to $30900)
1.34 x 26950 = $36100 Aero (probably bump it up to $36900)

I guess that's not so bad. What can I say, I demand a lot for my hard earned cash. :)

Adding all the options now it's getting expensive. A fully-loaded 9-2X for $33K? Is Saab dreaming? :o (although I highly doubt that the 9-2X will be sold at sticker). I'd rather spend that kind of money on the STi. :nono;

It is true that Saabs in Canada sell for less than in the US. With that in mind, it may be true that it will cost around $36,000 for the Aero version.

However, with the options, some of which are necessary (heated seats), moonroof and leather interior it could easily end up $CAD 40,000. And the options are the whole point why someone would not go for the Subaru WRX but for the 9-2x

Although it may be true that Saab may offer incentives, I am certain it will not start in July. At that time, they will try to gauge consumer reaction and very likely offer no incentives or discounts of any kind.

So, it boils down to you buying the Saab 9-2x for CAD $40,000. Is it worth it ? Given that you can buy a Subaru WRX for $33,000, I think Saab needs to really aggressively price this vehicle to get non Saab customers like me to buy this vehicle and become a long term customer down the road.

Makes me wonder. BMW 3 series starts at $34,000

I hope that they will price the vehicle in Canada properly. After all, I have decided to buy this vehicle. The only thing that may make me change my mind is how much they will charge over the WRX. $5000 I can handle ($38,000). $7,000 is too steep for me and I think most people considering this vehicle.

I know there are differences between the two cars in the way they drive (steering and suspension), available options (headrests, leather?, xenon headlights) and quality of materials. Free scheduled maintenance (2yr/24k miles) and the Saab is supposed to be quieter with more sound deadening material. I want to investigate the two cars and of course drive them both head to head. So is all this worth the difference in price? That the question that will remain to be seen.

Being a GM employee can sometimes have its advantages...

Just found out there is a strong possibility the 9-2x Aero will come with a lot more standard equipment when released in June. Stay tuned... can't say anything more than that.

hope you are right. Can't believe that Saab wants to make heated seats and option

Will any of these items be standard on the Aero?

Is there a section for dealer type posting.

I'm relatively new to SC, but most of the forums I belong to have relatively strict rules regarding advertising (ie. "Leggat Saab" :nono; ).

Again, being new here I don't want to step on any toes, and if that type of posting is condoned, I will stand corrected.

Personally, I find it a bit distasteful.

I thought I'd see more responses about the pricing. How does everyone feel?
