i've just returned from a nice little jaunt 2 Trent Saab where they fitted the stage 1 turbo upgrade WOW shoulda done it sooner. It goes like sh1t off a shovel now. it was well worth the investment ,n Mr TVR Chimera didnt like it much tho lol.
They were very helpful n gave me a few other suggestions, which will b implimented soon I hope.
900 T16 Ruby (a little faster than normal now)

Congrats on that one!
Saabs always seem to be just waiting for someone to give 'em a bit more punch.
What is included in the Trent Saab Stage 1 tuning job? And how much power and torque does your car have now?

Heres the list:-
de catted (already had the stainless exhaust with the decat pipe from earlier)
pcv check valve
.5 bar wastegate, rod end n mount plate
dump valve n fitting kit
replace the vacuum hoses
install fse power boost valve n set up
pity about this one tho, exchange turbo unit
few other bits n bobs O rings etc
new oil n tune
( but please dont ask the price lmao)
the only problem comes when u get very sore cheek muscles from grinning so much tho!!!!!

P.S ive yet 2 check the power n torque that'll come later in the month tho! To see if the claims are true.
You may find that you have to check the fuel pressure on the FSE over the next few miles until it beds in and stabilises.

This really is a fun car! All I gotta do is persuade the wife to trade in our 900s 96my 150000 miles a/c cruise Audio 2& 6 disc changer. also the 99GL 1984 164000 miles. any takers? Then its look out on those Devon roads Agey i'll come find you.LMAO

Ruby? - post 92? - no cat? - no MOT!
I guess you could just put it back for the test!
Yes - my FSE needed 3-4 resets before it settled in -I also think the base setting of 3.2 bar is too much on the Lucas FI - mine works better at 3.0 bar.

mot'ed on saturday removed again monday lol kevitree drove today the grin wouldn't leave hi face tho
Doesn't the Ruby have the upgraded APC already?
27-06-02, 09:41 AM
Well, there are different upgrades...
APC can be modified way above the level the factory upgrades give.
Many people run with APCs tuned to give 25 psi of boost or more.
Sounds like fun. Will the engine wear quicker running that amount of boost though?

It all comes down to what else has been done to the engine. If you take care about other necessery upgrades (fuelling, breathing, intercooling, turbo) it needen't be a time bomb. Many people have been succesful in tuning Saab engines and using them as daily drivers.
Of course, tuning an engine always causes more strain on its components, and in c900's case, more importantly, on the clutch and transmission.
On the other hand, it's much of a question of how the car's used as well. If you always run it hard, the engine will certainly wear sooner than it would with normal use.
That said, a standard car driven hard all the time might well wear more than a tuned one driven with more respect.
Do the job well, take care of the car, and a tuned 900T can be very reliable. The engine is tough, so even if one does take a bit off its original durability, a long life can still be expected.

I've seen how its driven! God help the gearbox. Perhaps Agey should be looking for a new box to rebuild ready for the inevitable.

my 90 900t is a daily driver and i am autocrossing on the weekends 24 psi boost . normal street driving you dont use all that . unless your like me on every corner and onramp . also went street racing (1/4 mile) last sat. nite ran a 2001 ram-air trans am thats been chiped and some other stuff beat him the first run (boy was he pissed) lost the second run. no traction tried to leave to hard and tires just smoked will be putting on b.f.goodrich g-force drag radials on tomarrow and will try him again

What have you done wrt your insurance?Don't you have to tell them about these sorts of things or do you keep it to yourself? If you were to keep it to yourself what would happen if you were to crash the thing?
I only ask as I think if I were to have got a turbo I would want to modify it.Enjoy!
