I suspect that higher octane fuel is not a bad idea if you have the PPC upgrade. Was it designed for regular fuel, though?

There's an interesting page on Octane here: http://www.csgnetwork.com/octaneratecalc.html.

The PPC upgrade is designed for 98 octane (RON).

Here in the States, we can only get 93 at most stations. If you are lucky enough to see a Sunoco, you can get there 94 octane. Anything above that is hard to come by. Its possible (my dad used to run 108 in his 1957 VW), but will take a drive to a drag strip to get.

Running 93 is good enough. If you are currently running 91, you would probably increase power by switching to 93.

They are talking about the crazy europe measurement of gas, i believe our 93 is similar to their 98... maybe i'm mistaken, but there is no way it was designed for 98 if they are speaking about US gas...

93/94 MON (US system) is the equivalent of 98 RON. I would think that the PPC would expect that level.

In Greece, they almost stoped the 98oct unleaded.
We can only buy 95 and 100 oct now... :D :D
95 crazy european octanes, should be something like 91 US..
100 crazy european and even more crazy Greek octanes,is it something like 94 even 95 US ones???... :D :D
Here in Belgium, they have the 95 and 98.
I use 98 and comparing it with the 100 oct, that I used last summer in Greece, the difference was noticable...
There was only one bad thing...the better the car goes, the deeper you press the gas pedal....bad for the fuel consumption.... :D
