Hey,

I have a 98 900 SE Convertible. I want to start with adding some power. What mods should I look into.

Thanks

Is it a Turbo model or not?
If it's an N/A car, then noticeable power gains only come through extemsive modification, and that means big bucks.

SE is the turbocharged model here in the US.

an ECU upgrade will get you some more horses to be sure, but prolly at a hefty cost.

the most common cost-effective mods to the ng900's are the addition of a swaybar (SAS or abbott) and other suspension upgrades to get a better ride and handling thru corners.

I know the turbo is a garett T25 (or T2small, whichever you prefer ) , don't know anything about a different unit, i.e. which ones are compatible

on the cheaper side there's the usual stuff, better air filter, better exhaust (I guess this can get pricey)

also water injection etc, the list goes on and on.
gone are the days when you can pull your APC unit out and twist a few resistors and watch the boost sail into the red...

Yeah the T25's are tiny, I think LPT 9000 CS's have 'em. I dunno what would fit... a T3 might fit I haven't peeked inside a NG900 engine bay so I can't really say.

I think you can install a viggen intercooler that will add at least 10hp. Get a k-n filter as well, that will add 5 hp.
Like conrad said, an ecu upgrade will give you lots of power 15+, but it will cost ~$3-400.
one complaint of the 9-3, ng900 is the chassis looseness, so bigger swaybars, lowering springs, and poly bushings may be a wise upgrade.

I found these websites listed on a post on another BB about modding a 9-3...since they're so similar to the ng900 I'm sure most, if not all of the mods here will work on an ng900.

I agree with 88spg, suspension upgrades are the way to go to stiffen & smooth out the ride, a GM inspired (if you will) saab is very loose, at least compared to a c900.
