Toying w the idea of a 9-5 aero as a third car to take some of the wear and tear of our convertible
Questions...
The tech package changed from 10 to 11...what's the extra button on the center console for tech package in 2011? Is it Lane departure warning?
What are thoughts on the advanced park assist? Other than audible chimes, does it project any directions through HUD?
I think I remember reading that 2010 doesn't really offer passive entry, is that true? Or if I'm mistaken ( could it be remote start?) what was the feature listed that's not offered on 2010
I'm not certain if I can go from a convertible as a daily driver to a sedan w no sunroof. I Dread the winter when the soft top is up. So at least I'm custom to the void. but I love the giant sunroof. Anyone w a '10 miss having a sunroof?
Is there anything else between the 10to 11 aeros in US spec that I'm forgetting, or not aware? Obviously the Nav has some update differences. ( logo versus word mark) Does the 2010 offer real time traffic too?
Thanks for your opinions I appreciate the feedback.

I have a 2010 9-5 Aero, my 5th Saab. The 2010 were only imported as Aeros, no other model was available. There is no passive entry available on the 2010 as well as no sunroof. Personally I would have preferred a car WITHOUT a sunroof. I like the look from the outside and the car is tighter and quieter without one. I have XM with live traffic on my 2010. Lane departure is, IMHO, annoying. Proper mirror adjustments should make this unnecessary. The park assist,OTOH, is useful. This is a pretty big car and I don't mind knowing how close I am to other vehicles, walls etc.
This is my favorite Saab so far. I have had a 900, 9000 and two other 9-5 Aeros. This car out handles all of them and is a blast to drive. The car has been very reliable for 39,000 miles, a couple of little items, rear directional bulb burning out and the NAV needs an update which I will do at the 40k service.
Good luck with your decision.
I guess with a convertible top, I'm accustom to to some squeaks already. My in-laws had a first gen SRX and that mega sun roof would flex and creak often. My mother-in-law always feared it would break-so thanks for reminding me of that counterpoint.
What color combination do you have? Since both our SAABs already are dark, I'm leaning towards white for a change, and I'm liking the contrast for the wrap around glass effect.
Advanced park assist, do you have that on yours? There are park distance proximators on the side of the bumpers- so supposedly the car will chime if the parallel spot is large enough and it will show directions for turning the wheel onto the HUD. Looks like original brochures state late availability, so I'm not certain if any us spec 2010s have it.
Can anyone with a 2011 tech package comment, is the system useful?
I do have park assist but it doesn't behave as you described it. All is does is warn you of proximity in all four directions. I find it useful as I park in a city daily and it helps with that. I never noticed any feed back in HUD while in use.
The HUD,BTW, is addicting. I find now when I drive a car without it how much I appreciate all the data right in front of me.
Good luck,
Congratulations, I hope you enjoy the car. Keep us posted on your experience. I just turned 42k and am having new Michelin Pilot Super Sports installed tomorrow morning. Nothing like new sneakers.
I've been scouring and watching the white ones since June. Only ones I know of w Nav are the 2010 in Pittsburgh and the 11 just bought by Blue Grass. There's a 2010 in NY but 20k miles.
Theres a white one in CA, it was demoed and has black panther turbines. I think I read on SU that it was a courtesy car for a hockey player for the dealership to get some exposure for the model. I don't care for the black turbine- to me the wheels from a distance are lost with the tires and look like black blobs
I don't think Hendricks inventory is updated, a salesman told me they did an employee sale, I think they had a new 2010, but if I remember right it didn't have tech pack, but it think it did have nav
Good luck!
I did contact hendrik and they are out of all Aeros, thats weird the black turbine wheel one ended up in CA becuase it use to be on the DC east coast and go to IMsaab in Falls church
Ill wait around for the next auction i suppose if not volvo I guess
SVX Mind posting which one did you end up going with and pricing ?
I talked to shawn regarding the 95 with the tv's in the back seat and yea for 34k its nice but honestly for a 2010 Model as soon as you buy it its worth 10k less basically no matter how many options are in the car
Local Dealership has a 9-5 Mechanically sound with 15,500 Miles on it Gray exterior color
The rear bumper is super beat up and the front end has scratches as well, they are asking 25k + tax and tags if I want an extended warranty it will be $3300 bumper to bumper 4 years 48k miles.
You're probably looking at up to 5-600 for a body shop to clean up the front and rear bumpers. If they are selling you the aftermarket warranty, they can absorb the price reduction for you to afford to clean up the paint work
Hmmm It is going for smart auction on monday starting at 18,800
i would like this car but I am not in love with it so I think my max including any cost will be 24k if I have to fix the bumper my self.
