Is there a way to hardwire into the dome light in the header panel above the winshield?

I did!

I'll get some pictures and the info about the wiring in a couple of hours...

Check the FAQ. You'll find a detailed install with pics here:

It's not a V1, but same basic idea.

Yes I saw that link but the convertible does not have the same overhead light panel as the sedan. There is only a very small housing built into the winshield header with 3 small dome lights. I am hoping Alex_C gets back to me on how he did it on his convertible.

OK, here's how:

First, locate the movement sensors are located on the light panel above the rearview mirror. The sensors are the round things to the left and to the right of the on/off switches for the lights.

Put your thumbs on the sensors and pull down to remove the whole light assembly.

Now remove the little plastic cover right at the base of the mirror, it just pops down. You may need to push the plastic clips holding it inwards.

Connect the GROUND (black cable) to this screw:

Connect the POWER (red cable) to the red cable shown here using the V1 supplied crimp-on splicer:

This is an ignition switched power cable, therefore you don't have to turn on or off your V1, if your car is running, the radar will be on. When you turn off your car, the V1 will turn off.

Here you can see where this cable came from:

Insert the connector box into the right side of the light fixture opening, there is plenty of space there. Route the cables back in place. Be careful not to leave any cables in direct contact with the lightbulbs to avoid them melting.

Route the spiral cable down the base of the mirror, as shown on the first picture above.

You're done!

Alex, your the man. Following you fine instructions I installed the V1 in about 15 minutes. I used a short "telephone" power cable and have it run from the rear view mirror to the sunvisor. I used the sunvisor clip so that it is portable and I can use it when I drive my wifes Linear. I am thinking of buying an extra power wire harness with the power/ground wire and installing it in the Linear so I do not have to use the cig lighter adaptor. The first time I put the top down and tried to use the car heater the temp of the air coming out of the vents was not warm even though it showed 10 on the AC readout. I opened up the dome light cover and reorganized the wires and it worked properly.
