Does anybody know. I know you can download updates from disk to PPC. Where is the factory settings stored? on the PPC or disk. I can see that for backup reasons it would be important to be able to save the factory ECU settings in different places.

Good question and one I had not thought about. The factory settings are stored on the PPC. However, I would imagine that if something were to happen, BSR could make the origianl software available through its website (via a USB port). Hopefully that never becomes an issue though.
