Car: 2005 Saab 9-3 2.0t

anyone know what i can do to disable my car? other then unplugging the battery.

is there a relay or fuse i can take out...which will temporary disable my car without damaging anything?

something i can just take out...car wont run....plug in...car will run.

Also does a Ross-Tech VAG-COM work with my 2005 Saab 9-3 2.0t

thanks

My guess would be to disconnect the ignition wire, that would involve taking about the center console though.

i need something a bit easier...best would be a fuse on the side pannel..or something in the engine bay.

anyone ? :D

Sorry for not contributing an answer to your question - I'm just curious what your reason is. Anti-theft? Anti-daughter-taking-the-car-out? What?

Why? :cheesy::roll:

During the gas crunch of like 1972 I had just filled Mom's tank to pick her up from vacation (airport). But my snotty sister said she was going to be using it to commute to work that week (she was to lazy to wait in a line), and back then you could only get gas on odd or even days (via the license plate last number), so I figured I would disable it.

Of course after a few beers ( ), I started the engine and popped the hood and figured I would just pull a wire. My eyes scanned the engine compartment and I said "hey the coil is easy" and as I grabbed it ... :o

I am still amazed at how far 190 pounds of flesh and bone can fly with the voltage from that little black wire. :cheesy:

Gee, do these cars have a fusible link.

It was kind of like the main fuse that protected against a massive voltage surge.

My Ford Pinto had one.

anyone know if there is any fuses i can take out under the hood or on the side of the steering wheel?

If you wanted to be extra sneaky you could take a fuse and short it out and then stick it in something like the fuel pump slot.

I depends on who the "enemy" is and how sophisticated they are.

If you have two cars, lock the keys from car "A" in car "B" and just make sure they can't get in to release the P brake in "A".

It sounds like your kid knows that Dad goes on "SC" and may be reading this?

"Gut out a few ignition wires", yeah, just yank the boot back and jam it back on.

How about this one, pop off the distributor cap and either take out the rotor or do a slight surgical grind on the brass so you can't tell it's not making contact.

Yep, with an ng that is how I would do it and just make sure you go down to NAPA or AutoZone and have the new one ready to go back on. :cheesy: They are only like a $3 part right?

i like the fuse idea...so i should take a blown fuse and put it in place with a good fuse...

anyone know which fuse to replace?

TunnanXWD

No, don't do that, go with the rotor. :cheesy::cheesy:

Just make sure you have the replacement in hand before you grind or sand it down.

To blow the other fuse you would have to have a second battery since I would not want to be shorting out stuff on my car with the everyday battery .. to much computer stuff to cook by accident.

Me? I just happen to have two good spare batteries in the garage plus one of those jump packs. Just f'ing around I blew a fuse on my tractor the other day messing with the lights. But on a car ... if you are going to light up a fuse till it blows ... plus it may show with too much juice with a black spot .... you don't want it on your car. I fried my "ECU" on my 9000 just jump starting it one day.

JUst pull the fuel pump fuse and take the keys with you, pretty fool proof.
Unplug the DI and the tuck the connector down and out of sight.
Take the ecu out of the car
there are a ton of things you can do, you need to be more specific as to how in depth you want to get and why with the keys in your possession, the car can still start.

Even more stealth: remove fuse 32,which is for the fuel pump. No one will know any better and the car will sure as hell not move.

Huh?

You have a 2005. It uses a transponder key. Take the transponders with you, all done. No one is going to steal the car - or at least no one who can't eventually defeat anything else you have in mind.

You ain't kidding Bob. Now, I remember thinking one way and then I saw ng somewhere and then I did a change up and started thinking distributor cap, rotor and stuff.

;oops: But thanks cause' at least I got the ng from somewhere.

Even more reason not to mess with shorting stuff out with your every day battery.

 Duh?

This sounds like something a parent would do. Now parents are afraid of not having their kids be their buds so in order to show they trust the kid they want to leave the keys. But they don't really trust the little snookumms so they don't want the car to run.

Now, little Bradley may not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier but Brad baby is probably smart enough to have a bud who is pretty good in auto shop. At that point, Brad will be on the cell to his bud who will be over there and ..... "like dude, like my rents used to do this schzz with me too and izz no big doo-dah, like the fuses, the first thing they do is pull a fuse and if it ain't that they do the bogus wire trick, so we look for the wire with no dust and schizz on it and ... :cheesy::cheesy:

If you have a garage with an overhead door with tracks, just drill out a hole on the upper portion of the tracks (too high to be easily seen) and run a screw on each side so the roller can't move more than about one eighth of an inch.

The only danger there is that if the kid figures that they can just kind of take the door apart by removing those "springie thingies" up there, the clean up is going to cost a fortune. All of those bits of blood, hair and bone splattered over your Saab ain't going to be pretty.

Just put a sign in the window that says:

"Saab - won't start, no parts available, make offer."

And people will run away from it... Ron

remove the ground strap cable from the body...
remove the ecu (just unplug, or take it with you)
remove fuel pump fuse
unplug coilpack
unplug crank position sensor

HAHAHA
My pops used to tell me "Don't touch my cars, if you do I'll break your face." That was enough of a deterrent for me. Pops is 6'2" and at the time was 265 so no testing the waters there.

Buy a pedal jack.
Kinda have to second the pedal jack. Its low tech..don't have to fiddle with anything else and sends a clear and direct message...who know's...maybe even an insurance reduction depending on the state. Much better than fiddling with electronics or removing something. ;ol;

ball's in your court now.........
